Has returned from the land of the singing - my choir tour has finished

My legs have not yet recovered from the not quite sucessful navigating of my choir master - in the last 24 hours only 4 were spent sleeping, the rest flying, walking, coaching (the moving variety) and training (again, the moving variety)

I toured the Czech Republic with my orchestra when I was still at school. Wonderful place to visit; murder to travel to if, like me, you can't sleep on coaches and you had to drive the whole way there. smiley - yawn

I did get to watch the sun rise over the Alps though. That was pretty. Only two of us were awake, so we just watched in awed silence. smiley - smiley

On driving - two of our teachers drove there (and back) in a van since we had to get the instruments there.

Day and a half there, 18 hours straight to get back.

Top speed 92mph in Germany downhill on the Autobahn (slightly quicker with windows shut - thats how bored our teachers got)

I knew it! Miles per hour. You all only use metric when you think we're not looking. smiley - winkeye

We use imperial for journeys in cars, and for measuring our weight (but using stones as well as pounds).

Pretty much the rest is metric though. Although some people still use Farenheit for hot weather. smiley - cool Not anyone my age or younger though.

Some people still use imperial for cooking, but it's going out of fashion.

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

My mum likes giving me recipes in pounds and ounces, I have always measured my height in feet and inches, But I can convert most things reasonably easily.

5 fluid ounces is roughly equal to 120 ml or a third of a cup.

12 inches = 1 foot = 30 centimetres

etc etc.
