From the SchrEck Computing, Inc. division: Readability of text and graphics on a computer monitor is better when it is switched on before use. This rule applies to CRT monitors and flat (LCD) displays respectively, unless the flat display is permanently connected to the computer, which is usually the case with notebooks.
