What was i *thinking*??? Joining the kickboxing society at uni this year...it wasn't the most sensible move i made.. Don't get me wrong, it was lots and lots and lots of fun, only the "warm up" (think "torturous half hour") was absolute........ly awful... it went a little like this
"jog on the spot jog on the spot PUSH UPS PUSH UPS jogigng on the spot jogging on the spot TOE JUMPS TOE JUMPS SQUATS SQUATS SQUATS SQUATS jogging on the spot jogging on the spot PUSH UPS PUSH UPS PUSH UPS jog jog jog jog jog ...." for half an hour, well...along with lots and lots of stretching, followed suddenly by *more* push ups, and then eventually we got to stop and got shown a rather nifty little combo that had us all laughing a little bit with the last bit.
It *was* fun though, if you forget the exruciating agony we were put through to begin with..and the fact that even though i wasn't very stiff this morning, after sitting still in lectures for 3 hours straight *NOW* i'm very very stiff....why oh why do i have a room on the second floor of halls?
But believe it or not, i'm still going to be going back on friday...and then on sunday...and then again on tuesday, and see just how long i can keep it up for..and if the warm up will be even worse next time.

Awwwwwwwwhhhhh..... Course it was a sensible move to join!!! Especially if you're having fun... as for the warming up... well, they just don't want to get in trouble if one of you gets in jured... which is a good thing, I definitely wouldn't want you to get injured......
*smiles gently* The stiffness goes away with more exercise...... A nice long massage might help, too... you'll have to remember that...
*smiles sweetly* I wonder for how long you'll be able to keep up going three times a week.... *smiles* Not counting me preventing you from it, of course....

*grins* i think i'll manage a lot more than a lot of people who 5 minutes into the warm up were wishing they were allowed to wear trainers for all the jumping and who probably won't ever go back again..

*smiles* Hmmmmm..... you're nice and strong and fit then.... And... aren't you allowed to wear trainers??
what do you wear there anyway?? Me wonders.....

*grins* nah, i'm just more a glutton for punishment than the rest of them and want my £5 joining fee's worth!
*smiles* and we're only allowed to wear...exactly nothing on our feet.. So ickle me was walking around in bare feet with all these people punching and kicking and got to have a go myself, and, well, it's safer to kick people with no shoes on than with them..
but my feet really were as bare as these, and funnily enough, the people doing fencing on th eother side of the curtain didn't pass out with the smell from 50 people in bare feet sweating like anything..

*laughs* Sweetie... Hmm... ok... it sort of makes sense that they don't want you to kick people with shoes..
Ahh well... as long as the ground is nice to walk on...
*laughs* And... the fencing people probably couldn't smell anything through their masks too... What does fencing look like? Nice?

Fencing looks *very* fancy, and they had lots and lots of noises whenever they managed to hit each other... *grins* i think they were rather glad that they were doing fencing and not boxing, all *they* had to do was run around the hall for a few minuites to warm up..

*laughs* Yep.... the others always seemed to have less warming up to do to me too.... It's more of a personal thing though, I think...
So I suppose fencing wouldn't be *quite* as tiring as boxing....
*smiles* How long is a session again?

*smiles* tis an hour, a very exhausting hour..and fencing i think is 2..but they had so much waiting around to do in long ques because they can only do it 2 at a time..

*smiles* OK... so that can't be very nice... to have so long to wait... I used to be annoyed when I had to wait for 10 minutes whilst my team was having a break (from playing basketball)... On the other hand, I suppose the boxers wouldn't mind a break every now and then...

*grins* i was really hoping that *we'd* be allowed a break..but nope, the closest to a break you got was when you're holding the pad for someone else to punch..
*smiles* i'm still going to be there on friday though, if my legsies can stand it..

Course they will.. I hope I can do something similar, I desperately need the exercise....
*smiles* Hmm.... Was it easy to get into it? Or was it assuming you knew the basics?

*smiles* they started everybody off from the basics, so twas very good that way.. but of course it meant that everybody was taught in one huge group..which really was the only way of doing it.. It was pretty hard to hear what he was saying sometimes with all the ing going on from the fencing people....

*smiles* Hmm.... I see... How many of you were there though? If the group is *too* large, the trainer might not have the time to work with everyone individually.... Tisn't *too* good then....

Ahh...we've got the european champion guy standing at the front and shouting so we can all hear and demonstrating, and then there're about 6 other people who walk around and show us if we look unsure.. So tis really well done...even though there were about 50 or 60 people standing there in the hall sweating like anything..

*smiles* tis sort of half half now..but on tuesday it was mostly girls.. *smiles* and we get to kick people holding pads and praying that we don't miss and hit them properly..
*smiles* i'm getting better at it, i went last night and there's hardly any achy muscles whatsoever this morning, i'm better than i was yesterday before i went.. *grins* the number of people there last night though was about a quarter of those there on tuesday... *smiles sweetly* I wonder why so many people didn't go back.. *grins* me took sarah and christina from my house along with me, and they both really liked it too...i wonder if they'll want to go tomorrow though, tis early and they're all going to the freshers ball tonight..

Hmm... I'm sort of surprised that there were more girls.... *smiles* But... ok... then again, it does make sense... in a way...
*smiles* Yay!! I get to say "I told you so!!!"..... Well, in fact, I'm quite glad you feel better than last time.... *smiles* What do Sarah and Christina feel like though?? *smiles* And at what time will it be tomorrow?? Don't tell me it'll be *early* on a sunday????
