My Mam was telling me the other day, that one of her friends was talking about her grandson, who is aged 3 years old. He is shortly going to become an older brother, whereas the grandmas said to him, your going to have a little visitor soon aren’t you! He replied Yes, I’m having a brother and I’ve bought him a present, BUT I hope he’s bought me one as well!
She followed it up by saying that a few week ago his aunt and uncle took him to the East coast for the day and during the trip, he started to wriggle his way out of the child harness attached in the back seat of the car, so the uncle HAD to pull on the hard shoulder of the motorway to readjust it. At which a police car pulled up behind them, to which, the officer asked if there was any problem. The uncle explaining about the child and harness etc, the officer leant in to the back of the car and said to the young’un you know it’s naughty to climb out of the seatbelt don’t you, at which the lad in a sobbing tone said yes sheepishly and that its there to keep you safe, so you mustn’t climb out because it’s against the law ok, again a sheepish yes, at which the officer winked at the uncle and carried on his way.
Nothing was said all the rest of the day, but when they took him home in the evening and they walked in to his house, he went up to his Mam and said “I’ve been arrested!”.
It’s as they say, kids aren’t kids for 2 minutes now a days

I remember my son doing that (opening the seat belt of his baby seat). Very annoying when driving alone, with nobody to help you.

At least the copper did what a copper should do, made the kid realise what he did was wrong and I bet he won't do it again

When I were about the age of 6, I saw two boys about the same age of me playing on their in the street and I went out to them and shouted troublemakers as I was trying to act all grown up.

When Kitty was about 3 we were driving to my parents'. We were on the A59 near Blubberhouses, where there are some fantastic hills. I was going down one of these, probably doing about 60mph, when someone coming the other way decided to overtake a slow moving car. I had to haul on the anchors to avoid being hit head on, but avoided him, and carried on. A little voice from the back of the car announced "I'm upside down!"
Gina looked back, to see a lack of child in the car seat, and a pair of legs sticking up from behind my seat!
The little minx had undone her straps without us realising, and when I had braked hard she had toppled forwards, headfirst into the footwell! She thought it was hilarious, and asked "Can we do it again?"
I agree with you about the things they say, though. You may be interested in a little thread I started a while ago...
