I hear you have applied to become an ACE!
Have you greeted any newcomers yet?

Oh hello. Sorry I was on a little bit of a hiatus there. I've greated one or two people, but I'm not exactly sure on what to do...
Congratulations :)

Greetings The Average Joe
Welcome to the ACEs team! I'm Phoenix, a fellow ACE. If you need any help, please feel free to ask.
As far as what to do when greeting newcomers ... Be friendly. Other than that there's not much to it. Some people put useful links in their greeting messages, some use pre-made greeting messages, some make completely new messages for each greeting. It's all a matter of personal taste. I have a tendency to switch back and forth between those options.
You have several options available as far as how to locate newcomers as well. Vegiman maintains a Newcomers List at http://www.H2G2.com/U130387. He does a really good job with that page. There's also a New Users search feature at http://www.H2G2.com/NewUsers which I've found handy for finding those newcomers that got missed via other methods. And finally, there's the Who's Online (http://www.H2G2.com/online) which is how I used to find newcomers before I became an ACE. Using any one, or all, of these is fine. If you find another method of finding newcomers, that's great too.
If you need anything else, please feel free to ask.

Joe!
I have made a page of links here:http://www.h2g2.com/A487857 if you'd like to take a look, then get some ideas for making up your own page of links?
I am now giving out that page link, instead of a whole lot of links on the newcomers page...it'll be less confusing.
