knackered

It's a week now since I got my purse back and last posted on h2g2. I've been busier than a very busy bee. On Saturday morning I went up to see my brother in Manchester, who is giving me a hand with the complicated java-script bits of the purplejenny website. I got back home late and knackered on Monday evening, and have done some heavy hours since then.

On Wednesday evening I went to UCL where I have a pal in the photography society, so can use the studio there for free. Hopefully got some nice detail shot of all the different garment styles that we'll soon be selling at pj. Another late night home. And tonight, I'm struggling with an evil piece of poo software called fashion cad that utterly fails to do what it needs to do.

Most of these hassles are down to trying to set up a business with very little money. Everything is done on a shoestring at the moment, which means that the business success or failure depends on how much time and energy I can put into it.

Oh well, I'd better get back to it. I am very happy doing what I'm doing... it aint easy, but I won't give up and I'm convinced that one day it will all be worth it. And, we got some lovely new purple velvet delivered today. Hurahh!

purse and bicycle

Today was a funny day. I spent most of the day sorting out the company accounts, and talking to the accountant and bank manager. We also made some really good tops in the studio. Purplejenny (the fashion company I started) is nearly, finally, ready to launch and there's so much going on that I sometimes think my head will explode. I headed home early yesterday to get some sleep in order to prevent cranial catastrophe, and somehow en route managed to lose my purse. I am a part time idiot, and often do daft things.

Anyway, by the time I woke up there was a message on my mobile from the person who had found my purse, and I arranged to collect it after work the next day. This unusual diversion from my route home took me through Tottenham in the rain, and involved carrying my bike up and down loads of steps... Grrr. I have a big problem with carrying my bike up and down stairs cos its big and heavy and I'm only little.

I got my purse back from Marian, a very fragrant lady with an amazing bouffant hair-do and rewarded her with a box of chocs. It's really good to have someone take care of a lost thing and return it to its owner, and that's just what Marian and her son had done.

I then cycled back to the station, carried bike up and down steps etc, only for the train to be cancelled. Booo. So, me and bike up and over the bridge (again..puff..pant etc...) and then all the way home - mostly uphill.

So, now my legs are tired, I am developing biceps through extensive bicycle lugging, but I do have my purse back. Three cheers for returners of lost property, big fat boo to WAGN trains.

More exciting developments in jennyland soon.
