Hello Granny Weatherwax!

After being somewhat suspicious of your message to me (as friendly as it was!) I've decided that I ~think~ it is totally 'legit'. First off, thank you for the welcome. I should explain though why I thought your message seemed somewhat suspicous. In it you mentioned that you had friends in a place called Aurora Canada. Aurora is infact my hometown although I don't spend much time there anymore. This means the world is either an unbelivably small place (Aurora is only a town of about 43,000!) or you've had access as an ACE to email address and have done some sluthing! I'm sorry if I seem rude, I don't mean to be it is just such a HUGE coincidence since Aurora is a town most people less than 100km from which have never even heard of!

I'm willing to take your word though since you are a listed ACE and you were so kind as to welcome me to this site. I have never really participated in anything like this before and i'm not sure how often I'll visit back but when I found it I thought the whole site looked like a lot of fun.

Have you visited Canada? do you know the Aurora area at all? Are your friends intenernet friends/relations/friends that have moved away -- I believe you said you were in the North of England in your little bio is that right?

Anyway.. it's a pleasure meeting you! Do write back. I'll be away from a computer for a few days but I'll be sure to check in!

Good to meet you smiley - smiley

smiley - wow the world is a really small place smiley - smiley There's no way I could have known that's where you come from smiley - smiley, us ACEs are a volunteer group and have no access to any data other than what's on site.

My friends in Aurora have all been made through w**k, they all work for a Fine Chemicals place that was taken over by a British company about 5 years ago, and until very recently I worked for the Pharmaceutical/Fine Chemicals Business of that company. I now w**k for the Group Financial Controller of the same company.

I've never visited smiley - sadface although some of the guys in Aurora have been over to Manchester and I've booked flights for soooo many of our people to go over.

I've always wanted to visit Canada and I'll make it one day!

Anyway, as I said before, welcome to h2g2, and if you've any questions, or if I can help in anyway, just give me a shout!

luv

Hello Again!

Well that's quite amazing -- what are the chances that the first person who I get into a conversation with on this site happens to know Aurora! Crazy! Well I do hope you get a chance to make it to Canada one day. It's so hard to recommend where to go when people ask though -- it's got such a variety of places to visit. The mountains of the West Coast, the Maritimes in the East, Toronto (near Aurora) in East-Central Canada) etc.... But if you do visit the people you know in Aurora ever make sure you check out both Toronto as well as north of Toronto about 3 hours up in Georgian Bay area... It's great too...

I've always wanted to make it to England. My mom is from England as well as my grandfather on my father's side. I've never made it over there yet although my sister did last year.

Anyhow, before I babble on for too long thanks for the welcome. That was very nice of you! As you say, if i need any help, etc, I will send you off a message smiley - smiley

Thanks again!

Well if you do ever make it over to England, be sure and give me a shout smiley - smiley.

Some years ago my brother went to a scientific synopsium in Toronto & then took a train ride across Canada, he really had a great time & I've always promised myself that I'd do the same - one day smiley - smiley

Take care
