Cos ours are!
Apparently there's a 'student day of action' tomorrow. Students. Action. Hmmmmm, we'll see! They're all getting very Citizen Smith over here - albeit Citizen Smith bankrolled by daddy smiley - winkeye

Not that I've noticed - although they're always revolting in one sense of the word smiley - winkeye

I have a lecture at 2 pm, I wonder if they'll boycott it now. And will I notice as I've driven them all away anyway... smiley - winkeye

surely they have to turn up anyways these days to get the course attendance credits?

There's all sorts of warnings here about no parking round the A-W building (VC wouldn't want his flash motor getting scratched by some oik!) and wearing of security passes at all times - plus they are having security on the doors to A-W etc, etc. Personally, I reckon it'll all be a bit of a let down with few students chanting naff slogans. Ho hum, if it makes them feel better...

We do chuck them out for 'failing to connect with the course' but we make tutorial, practical and workshop attendance compulsory and track their attendance that way (smaller groups make register of attendance eary and evidence of handed in work is obtainable...).
It's almost impossible to get them all to turn up for lectures every time.

Nah, nothing like that here, I guess they'll have their turn another day. I know lots of them went off to the march in London last week.

well, that was all pretty uneventful, all gone by 5pm and them as were there didn't really get up to much. Ho hum. Sounds like Manchester and London were the exciting places to be smiley - smiley

Ooh it did get quite eventful here as it turns out. I dunno how I missed being seen on telly last night as I walked out of work behind a big demo which had just marched right through our building. There were TV cameras waiting for them and I was there too smiley - biggrin

Sadly when I saw the local news, they managed to show a small excerpt just before I turned up.

They also had a sleep in in our various lecture theatres.

Quite amusing but sadly all too ineffectual I suspect.
I recall big protests when I was a student as they instituted the first student loans and cancelled housing benefit and income support for sutdents. Slippery slope they said...smiley - bigeyes
