Welcome, welcome, welcome, to the wonderful site of H2G2 (otherwise known as hootoo - you will see this word a lot). This is not an automated message, I am an <./>ACE</.>, and I'm here to help you settle into your new home

H2G2 is a living, breathing guide to Life, the Universe and Everything. Take a look in here: <./>info?cmd=art</.> It's something YOU can take part in. You can write entries on all manner of subjects, and if it's something you think would look good in our Edited Guide (where all the best research goes), you can submit it to Peer Review. Take a look at the <./>writing-guidelines</.> for more information on that.

I've created a little list of links, just for you, so click here <./>A4992357</.> and have a look at them (actually the links are my daughter's...but hey!! Hootoo is one big family )

If you click on each link, they will take you to parts of hootoo no sane person should ever go alone on this site.....

......but as it seems no one here is sane, it doesn't matter does it!

Have a look around, pop into my personal space and read some conversations that I have on the go at the moment and you will see how things work. Don't be frightened to jump in on conversations, hootooers don't bite (well, some of them do, but I'll steer you well clear of those), just be aware of the thread you are reading and whether or not it is a private conversation between two people. However, if you wish to chat with one of them, click on the name tag and leave a message in their Personal Space.

You could have a look here: <./>info?cmd=conv</.> too! You might find some of your future friends in there

Remember, if you get lost, shout for help and hopefully I'll be around to give you a helping hand. In case I'm not around, just leave a message here <./>ACE</.> and someone will be with you just as soon as they can. Failing that, just click on MY SPACE on the left hand side of your screen and you'll get back to your personal space.

I'm a technophobe and get confused easily been on the BBC msg boards for a while and got frustrated that we couldn't contact freely, although I understand the reasoning!

How can I get the best out of my page? i.e. make it easier to find me, how do i find other people?

You're a technophone too?? Oh so am I! If you click on <./>ThePost</.> and scroll down to the poetry and fiction area, you will find my poem on the subject!


To make friends, you need to be seen in chatty, but not catty threads, try looking in <./>MiscChat</.> if it's a long thread, please remember that the topic might have drifted and will not resemble the name of the thread! Just read the last couple of threads and see how the conversation is going. See if you think you will be comfortable in there. Once you have found some 'friends' click on their Tag (name) and it will take you to their Personal Space, here you can leave them a message by clicking on the 'leave a message' box. You will also notice an other box called 'Add to Friends List', if you click on that, the person is added to your Friends List. This means if they write a journal, you will receive it in your Conversation List too.

Personally I don't believe in putting my email addy in my PS, some have experienced a few nasty moments. If you want to chat with people offline, then you could leave email address in the thread you have created with that person. Most in Hootoo wouldn't dream of using it without invitation.

Look on the left of your page and you will find 'My Space' click on there and it will take you back to your Personal Space.

If you were following a current conversation, you might find it in the <./>Info</.> page, which shows the current 25 conversation online.

If you click on the blue link I give you, up there ^^^ it will take you to the page.. just scroll down and you will see other forums and finally the chat threads.
