Zarquon's Singing Fish!

Not quite sure how I came across you - well, it was because of the entry on Jake Thakray that I feel is in need of an update.

I too am a Jake Thakray fan. I've not seen him live in a number of years now, but even so, there is good information about him and his work that is missing from this entry.

BTW, I used to ride motorbikes too, so there's another factor in common.

What do you think?

Hi - I play a few of his numbers (but nowhere near as good! ) - Lodger, Sister Josephine, Jolly Captain, On Again. I was lucky enough to see him live several years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed. I had deliberately left out a lot of detail, as so much more is at Edmund Chattoes' page, and on other sites. You might be intersted in a recent release - The Very Best of Jake Thackray (released by EMI in response to his death - I wish the beggars had been more aware of his music when he was alive!)

There is a thriving JT group - thye met up in York a few months back - next session is at the Tramshed in Woolwich Nov 8th (I think)

I will get on to the editors to update my article with his death and a few other bits>

Zarquon's Singing Fish!

Hi Bob,

My ex-husband used to play some of his songs too (but nowhere near as good). I have a couple of his records, including the Very Best of Jake Thakray. Was it the same one they released or an updated version of it?

I've seen him lots of times and would like to contribute to the update. You must include his views on the 'plastic encore', for instance.

As I live near Woolwich, I could make the date, all being well.

Have you seen this website? It has a great mp3 file - 'The Last Will and Testament' was always one of my favourites and one which I would like played at my funeral!
