I see Intern has already been subscribed to the explosive thread. So he/she knows the Italics have had enough bickering as well.

If you saw my last posting there, you'll see that that is precisely where I am leaving it lie. It's done, so far as I am concerned.

I expect there'll still be some flurry here-abouts. Milady is an active campaigner for a Mayoral candidate, and the election is on Monday. In fact, I found myself volunteered to vote-by-proxy for someone I've never even met. smiley - groan

Is that legal?

Yes it is. There are proper governmental forms, filled out by the person unavailable to get to a poll. With their signature. I took that to City Hall, they confirmed the voting eligibility of that person, and my own, and then I signed, and they signed. Making it all a matter of formal record that the first person authorized me to vote for them. I'll take that form to the polling station, and twice enter the "booth". Once for myself. And once for that other gentleman.

I've known of it, but just never been involved with it before. Now the thing is, this election is for a Mayor, and 12 city councillors. Nothing in the paper states the other person's preferences. So all I can know is his preference in the Mayor line, as it was through a specific candidate's office. For the rest, I'm pondering if I ought to call him or not ...

If you've both agreed to put the x in the right box that's fine, isn't it

Post 16

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear }

Yep. But I think I'll check with the Mayoral candidate's office for clarification as to how far the priviledge goes. I've just read the form which was in milady's purse all afternoon. Nowhere are preferences declared ... So I could go purely MY conscience.

Call HIM and ask

Before I intrude on a man I've not met, I figure it's better to call the campaign office that asked me to do this, and learn what is truly expected. I've never voted for a local level, so it may be two separate ballots, and I need only worry of the obvious one.
