I'm going to have to give your cider a try when we're over ... To me, here, it's an okay drink but nothing special. As for beer, we have perhaps a dozen national brewers, each with a handful of recipes. SOme quite good, some you'd be satisfied to try just the once. The only time I've met British beer or ale was at a restuarant that specialized in Brit meals. SO I've only tried a few ...

Hi
There is a guide of the best I have found on my homepage. They are all bottled and travel well, see if there are any that is why I did it that way as they could turn up anywhere. With your connections an old airforce buddy might put a bottle or three on a flight from the UK.

Nearly all these brewers have on line shops you never know they could ship direct...

The taste notes are my opinion but accuarate enough to make a choice...smiley - ale

Something called Hard Cider gets produced in the US, I read it in Peyton Place, some guy killed himself drinking it, or something

I've briefly browsed your page, Bob, and will have to give it a better read when time allows. My day is about to begin ... But it looks like a good "man on the street" appraisal of brews. smiley - cheers

And I recall having read bits about "Hard Cider". Not commonly brewed stuff, but intentionally fortified to be nearly blindingly strong stuff. Anyone who would try on something with such a reputation is either stupid, or trying to build their own "manly-man" reputation. Again, a trait that is stupid, in my opinion.

Yes they try an up spec cider here, but in the pub chuck a double scotch in a pint. A proper brewer has a standard to which he will set himself and stand by. Real UK cider has no need of extra punch, its a powerful pint anyway.smiley - cheers

Personally, I don't need an "extra kick". A good and full-flavoured beer or ale, a well aged scotch-whisky, I am quite happy to sip and share time with good friends. It's not been about the effect, the binging or any of that atleast one marriage ago. smiley - rofl The effects of a good woman, eh?

I am in a pretty small "city"-town. So such imports won't appear in the Brewer's Retail. Mind, I do have a steady supply of marmite, so anything is possible. smiley - laugh

It's mostly "old-school" Air Force folks, their spouses, some adult kids ... They only know of one type of party ...

Great loads of quality food, bigger measures of beer, wine and liquor, and than dance hard to stir it all well. smiley - laugh
