h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Just dropping by to say hello and poke about your page a little bit. The role-playing threads are great fun to read; I don't know if I have the knack for actually participating. And if I did, I'd probably most certainly become addicted.

The roll playing threads are very much addictive. Which ones have you looked at? The Roswell one is actually pretty good. I'm having a ball with the Lil's kidnapping one, but that one has hopped around threads and would be very difficult to follow if you were starting from scratch. In that one, I have created a bunch of new id's and am playing a number of roles, as well as my normal GL role. Phew! There was also a cool role-playing thing that we did last summer - it's an entry on my page: the Mary Celeste. It followed a Live Action Role Playing scenario that I found on the internet. I ended up corresponding with the author, and he joined h2g2 and helped me run the game. Sometime, I want to host another of those - it was a lot of fun (but a lot of time, too).

Oh, and you'd be just fine joining in. You just make it up as you go and take care not to tread on others toes (common sense, really. Or rather, golden rule - don't do stuff to other people's characters that you wouldn't want them to do to yours. If you read the continuity stuff that I referenced on my page, you would get the idea). If you want to join in one, check out the 'return of Dane' thread. It's an adventure that is just getting started and is headed to Zork. Don't worry about YK - he has about a million characters and they pop up all the time in adventures that he is on. I don't trouble too much about remembering who he has along with him - you can just interact with his characters 'in the moment', rather than remembering how they fit in with the story as a whole. Right now, the characters in the story are in a mine cart, heading towards a passage that goes from h2g2 to zork. I've created a second mine cart and haven't decided how to play it - originally I had intended to have myself in the cart, but I've been thinking that it could be someone/something else. If you want to play along, then it could be you and I in the second cart and we could appear once the carts stop at zork. If you want to do that, just make a post to the thread that goes something like:

*Stiffled giggles are heard from the second cart*

Or,

*A pair of blue eyes appear momentarily over the edge of the second mine cart, looking back at the first cart. They quickly disappear back below the edge.*

Or,

whatever you feel like.
