Bless you my friend! I had a super day thank you. Went out for a meal in the afternoon and spent an obscene amount of money at the local garden centre; then later in the evening fed an equally obscene amount of red/blue/green/purple 'witchy' cakes to all the local children who seem to know it's my Birthday; and come around saying "are you the witch?" They know that I won't give them money, so I spend days beforehand baking little cup cakes to hand out - it's great fun.

I suppose you were not online because you were all trick or treating. I liked it best when a group of eight little ones came together - all dressed up wonderfully and someone's Dad was hiding behind the front hedge, so they looked as if they were alone and in charge.

No, Kitty went with a friend and her mum to a local halloween party in the park thing, I was working late, and Cheeky Monkey gets too frightened of the monsters and the fireworks at night, so had a quiet night in.

Sounds like you had a wonderful day - good for you! I love the idea of the cakes! Sounds brilliant! I agree with you about not giving money. Too many kids come round, no fancy dress, and just expect you to give them money when they mumble "trick or treat".
We have a bag of little treat size chocolates, and only give them to the ones who make the effort.
