Greetings, Earthling.

I am your h2g2 sub-editor for A24674088, which sounds fascinating.

Now, it didn't have much of a PR thread, possibly because nobody else has ever heard of it, so I'm going to make some cosmetic changes that should have happened in PR - like taking out the "I" and maybe rearranging a few sections. I'll let you know if I do anything particularly drastic.

Oh, not to mix business with pleasure, but I think I could get to like you. May I add you to my friends list?

ooooo - a friend! smiley - hug
hope you enjoy subbing my article - to be honest, I'd almost forgotten I'd put that one in there! I've just given it a skim read through - do you think it might make more sense to lose the 'review' subheader - it comes almost at the end of the piece - not too sure what I was thinking there!
I did really love watching this - especially as i understood quite a bit without the subtitles!! (there is quite a bit of technical german though where they started talking about spying etc, have to admit I was totally lost in those bits)
how's your article going about the Compact?

Yay!
*runs off to add mummit as a friend*

I was wondering about it too - that Review section, I mean. It seemed like the whole first part was a review. I'll probably start going over it seriously tomorrow, so if you're the overprotective type, that's when to start getting vigilant. smiley - ok

My Compact entry has only slightly more comments than your movie entry... smiley - winkeye But since I have seniority, I suspect it'll get picked quicker. Name recognition, etc. Stick around. smiley - smiley

Hi,
What did you mean by "category" in the awards section?
Would it ruin your life terribly if I moved all the awards into a single list?

Congratulations smiley - cheers on a fantastic collection of articles on the New Yorker. very well written and informative! You must have been so proud to have seen them all there together on today's front page. When did you find the time to write them all?

Oh well, that collection's been cooking since last summer, if I recall correctly. smiley - yikes (Sometimes I wonder if I'm sane.) I'm awfully proud - it's my first (and maybe only) h2g2 uni project. Glad you enjoyed them. I did too! smiley - biggrinsmiley - boing
Now I shall bounce over to your entry and do some reformatting...

OK - take a look and make sure I haven't bungled up the awards too much? I know nothing about movie awards. Besides that, I just added a header to the plot summary and made a few cosmetic changes to punctuation. After this, I'll mostly be adding links to h2g2 pages, so it's pretty much done. smiley - ok
...I wonder if the library has the DVD...?

Thanks very much for tidying it up for me! You should definitely get the film out - it's a great watch.

Am very impressed you managed to write your h2g2 uni project in a year...from looking around the site, I see other people have been adding much deserved congratulations! I kept thinking of F Scott Fitzgerald and the Great Gatsby (one of my favourite books at university) as I was reading the articles about the history of the New Yorker...I think it's that sense of a lost age which you brilliantly evoked.

OK, I finished the entry and sent it back. smiley - cheers What else have you got in PR? I still have a pick in my pocket.

It took much longer than I thought. smiley - smiley Real life kept getting in the way and annoyances like that.

The Great Gatsby? Now that was an awesome book! (Katherine White said one of the reasons she divorced her first husband was because he didn't like it.(!)) And there isn't even any mention of it on h2g2. It's funny because I can't put my finger on what I like about it so much, but I do. And I've met very few people with any literary taste at all who don't.

I don't think I still have anything lurking in Peer Review...there was another film review i did called 'this is England' but I took it out of PR a few weeks back - I thought nobody can have seen the movie as nobody is commenting on it! It's now back in my personal space - take a look at it if you like.

Can't believe there is nothing about the Great Gatsby on h2g2 (or the great F Scott Fitzgerald for that matter!)

Maybe I should try writing about him instead for my next article!

course nobody saw it - you seem to have arcane taste in videos. smiley - tongueout But someone picked this German one. Pop it back in and I'll give it some attention. Unless that would distract you from The Great Gatsby. I like the way you capture the mood of the films - I think you'd do a fantastic job on the novel. smiley - ok

Hello fellow feline smiley - cat

Thanks very much for your kind comments! You have inspired me to do some research on the 'Great Gatsby'...a great excuse to go back and read it again.

I do tend to go for strange films, that is true!! I have just put 'This is England' back into Peer Review - so if you'd like to have a look at it, be my guest. I noticed your Compact article is in PR - will have to have a read of that when I get back from my holiday (am going on a brief trip to Amsterdam this weekend for a one day music festival)
