"Thanks awfully, old Chap!" as the James Fox RAF Pilot Character in 'The Battle Of Britain' film of those momentous days, says to the small boy who offers him one of his fathers cheroots. Whist said RAF Pilot is sat in the remains of a once perfectly serviceable Green house, no doubt bourne out of the efforts the small boys father.
One can only wonder what the father actually says when he gets home from a hard days ducking bombs being dropped by German Nationals, and finding a sweaty RAF 'Hooray-Henry'Pilot smoking the last of his hard fought for cheroots on the what was once his pride and joy of a greenhouse?.....
Sorry, I always fail at avoiding digression. A failing my father frequently tried to warn me away from. But as he suffered from the same thing the conversation seemed to spin off at all angles. Like the time he tried to help me do my Maths homework, and we ended up flying a Kite in a field half a County away.
Anyway, anybody fancy a pint?
