Ceres

Back in October 2006, I saw Neptune and Uranus with binoculars, and Gnomon suggested Ceres should be next.

Well, Ceres is currently in Leo, and at midnight last night I braved the frost in the back yard with my 10x50s, and yes, I saw Ceres! smiley - cool

I put 4 finder diagrams on my Flickr page here:

Mercury Rising

Mercury is once again visible, now in the morning before dawn. At 07:00 this morning Arcturus could be seen just North of East, and at a similar height above the horizon, Mercury just South of East.

At the same time, higher in the sky, Saturn is still lurking near Leo.

Antares

The summer constellations are visible again. Out walking the dog last night around 11:30, and Leo with Saturn was beginning to dip, with Libra well clear of the horizon, and rising behind it, Scorpio and the red Antares.
