i am a N00b here, but i learned my way around fast. i have a few questions. how do i get involved in the role playing i heard about in the tour? also, i have volunteered to become a sub editor and an ace. how will i know if i have been accepted? and how, if i am accepted, will i put those badges on my page? Lastly, How do i spruce up my page?

Well let's see...first off, there are numerous role playing games about h2g2, all you can really do is find them. I know there's the Terranic Army, S.T.U.M.P.E.D., C.H.O.P.P.E.R.S., the boardroom of Evil, Star Wars, etc. Just search in the search box up top for them and you're bound to find one you want!

As to being an ACE or sub-editor, you are brand new so I don't know how good your chances are of becoming one. Take the ACE, for instance. The trick to being an ACE is really knowing h2g2 well enough to give helpful links, pointers, etc. to all the newbies. It took me six months to become an ACE!

Sprucing up your homepage is the best part of h2g2. If you looked at the GuideML-clinic link I gave you in my 1st message, it will tell you how to do guideml, which is necessary to have a really cool homepage (it's not much different from html, if you know that.) You'll want to click on "edit this page" when you're logged in over at the right on your homepage to start. Once you're comfortable with guideML, change the format to GuideML format instead of regular text format. Then, the tags should be on there for you, and you just put whatever you want in between them. But remember, once you've set it to GuideML, you have to make sure all commands are done in GuideML or it won't look right! A neat trick to try is...go to any guide entry that has an A before the number in the URL. Erase that A, and type in "test" then all the original GuideML coding will show up. That's how I learned alot of the tricks I know! Just play around, you'll figure something out. I was brand new to GuideML when I first started! Happy sprucing!
