5 Weeks of Lovely Time
JulesK Started conversation Jul 28, 2008
For me. Hopefully, unless baby decides to come early...
Today is my first day of Leave (it's Annual Leave which I tacked onto the front of Maternity Leave) and I so need it - it's very humid here and I'm too big to walk to and from work and baby has spent the last 48 hours crushing my lungs.
All in all it's great to be in my house and be able to move around when I need to instead of being in the searingly hot basement of a hospital whose windows aren't allowed to be opened more than a couple of inches

Have you begun thinking of names for baby yet? Maybe we should let HooToo decide the name, whaja think?

blimey! I didn't realise we were all so close to being virutal aunties and uncles!
My #2 is a week off being 10 - it was a hot summer then (or maybe it just felt like it) so I feel your "pain"
Enjoy!

Virtual Aunties & Uncles what a great thought
Legster, if you find any lob a few this way, would you? It's just awful out there - pushing 30'C apparently but as usual in the UK it's the humidity that gets to me.
Names from Hootoo folk. Now why wouldn't that be a good idea?!

I'm just thinking how much I'm suffering in this heat; and particualrly the humidity which always turns my brain to mush (even more than usueal that is) and thinking... blimey it might be even worse were I pregnant in this heat no snowballs here, though finally a bit of breeeze seems to being able to make it into the house a bit but the humidity in here is <flusterd
how about 'nighthoover' or of course '2legs' maybe for a middle name

Tabatha?
I hope the weather cools a bit for you, Jules. What a good plan to have five whole weeks off work before the baby's born. I know so many people who haul themselves into the office right up until the due date and it amazes me how they manage it.
Enjoy yourself...

Spare Cat is called Tabitha!
I just couldn't be doing with the walking (we bought a house I could walk to work from - a different proposition when heavily pregnant however)and it's lovely to be in charge of when to get up, change position/activity etc.
Nighthoover and 2legs are so dated now...

I think Thor is a great name for a boy. Needless to say Lainey wants me to think about it for a few years...

With Thor you're inviting problems with eagles and fizzy drinks machines. Babies are enough hassle you know without all that

how about Bodica for a girl? although, she'll probably end up wanting a go-cart with swords attached to the sheels once she's older Plus, I'm not sure they sell daub at ToysRUs

OK, three weeks gone and three sets of houseguests been and gone - I now have two weeks left (you hear that, baby?!) and no plans for any more visitors - just pottling about and resting.
Plans, eh. I feel foolish even hoping that'll happen.
Anyway, that's my plan

Oh my goodness, is it so soon? I'm totally not ready
*rushes around like a mad thing*
Back in my day we had (compulsory) 6 weeks off before the due date, and 8 weeks after the birth (so if you went over the date you got longer). All on full pay. Lovely jubbly.
Not sure what it is now - but all the ladies who have been pregnant in my office have taken all their annual leave prior to the 6 weeks. They seem to be off work forever, certainly in one case before her bump even started to show.
Is now a good time to say: Pelvic. Floor. Exercises?

how time flys....
Right don't panic....
Err, I'll put this pan of water on to boil... towels, we need towels, frehsly laundered fluffy white towels, and boiling water for soem reason I can't quite imagine.... maybe we use the boiling water to wash up in afterwards
Tea, we need lots of cups of tea... err someone go make tea, and some triangular cucumber sandwichs too... err, all the men can stand in the hall and walk up and down... I'm sure there are some cigars somewhere.... where are all the hot towels?
