A Week away from Hootoo...

... and what have I been up to?

Well let's make one thing clear, this is a bit of a diary entry really so anyone wanting funny stories or useful comments should look away now. It's my journal and I have little else to do tonight.

Firstly I've just realised why it's so quiet on here tonight - it's the London Meet smiley - doh Plus of course some sporting event involving large Englishmen but I leave those to Spouse (the events not the men).

So access to the computer has been fitful to say the least. My house is currently a shell I spend as little time as possible in. There is a plumber and an electrician and their teams currently making dust everywhere. They said they'd make a mess, I just didn't realise how much. There is no furniture available to sit on or at apart from one bed which we uncover at night to sleep in. We mostly eat elsewhere or standing up in the kitchen. But roll on central heating smiley - brr !

Last weekend I had a few days away at a family wedding (where I think told rather a few too many personal truths to a chap at a bar...)and then visiting friends.

This week at work has been busy, stresssful - not helped by not being able to go home and collapse into a chair. I'm just about starting to notice the novelty of the new job wearing off and the effect of doing longer hours than my previous job kicking in.

My sprained ankle is taking longer than I though to heal smiley - sadface

And that's life today, as seen through my smiley - bigeyes

Well now. Whole new system of pipes now that we've got gas running to the house, new boiler and water tank and central heating radiators and all electrics chased in and sockets set in and new sockets and loft boarding and new bathroom and new carpets and new flooring (some of this we are doing ourselves btw) and that's phase one.

Phase two is a new kitchen sometime next year.

Current state of house: empty, dusty (which affects your throat and eyes), precarious (stuff to trip over or fall into), horrible to be in at night.

Lovely sunny day today though so am enjoying filling the skip smiley - ok

Aha! Now I remember - you were away from the mains gas or something, was that easy to get sorted?

It's a good time of year to get the central heating in - although it's probably cold getting it sorted I've found that it's hot in my house when it's sunny - I've got windows open! Mind you, I am in a south facing room. Even being outside it's not that cold, although once the sun's gone smiley - brr outside is cold. I'm getting frost in the mornings here.

Not much you can do about the dust, although filling the skip sounds like fun. I want one!

Have you had any umwelcome additions? Or even raiders? smiley - bigeyes

A friend of mine drove a skip lorry for a while, and kitted out his house quite nicely. My ex-FIL also was a bit of a skip raider, out of the skips at the back of a big shopping centre.

If they are happy to drive around all day ringing bells out of the window I think they deserve whatever they get. smiley - biggrin

The skip seems mysteriously fuller again tonight, not particularly with things out of my house smiley - erm Methinks the locals are perhaps taking advantage (I'd never dare)?

I think they are probably taking the proverbial. smiley - biggrin Sorry, shouldn't chuckle, it's an unfortunate side effect of having a skip. They should come with lids.
