I just happend upon your personal space and thought I would say hello.

By the look of your personal space I would guess you are relatively new to h2g2. I came to it via other BBC DNA sites. I'm actually registered over on Get Writing but as I've fallen out of love with writing as a hobby for the moment, I tend to lurk about on hootoo much of the time. The people on this website don't take themselves quite so seriously as some of the GW contributors.

Excuse my ignorance, but what part of Essex is Purfleet in? I live in Ipswich, Suffolk, which is only about 17 miles from Colchester, so Essex is quite near by.

Ahh, there you are! Nice to hear from you.

The first DNA site I joined was Book of the Future in February of last year. I didn't use h2g2 that much to start with because it seemed rather big and scarysmiley - yikes. But then BotF was shut down last autumn and I moved across to Get Writing in September but I find I spend more and more time over here on hootoo. So, I've been lurking in this vicinity for over a year, but I've only really 'got into' h2g2 in the last six months or so. It's good fun most of the time and it gives me something to do on dull days at worksmiley - erm.

At the moment, I should be getting prices for the stuff my department will need for our stand at the Suffolk Show in June, but my boss is in a meeting all morning so as you see, not much work is getting done. Bad Liz!

I think I know roughly where Grays and Stansted are, although I haven't actually been there. My boss lives at Braintree, which isn't a million miles from Stansted, is it?

Is it raining where you are? It's chucking it down in Ipswichsmiley - sadface Mind you, it wouldn't be such a bad thing if the weather is dull at the weekend because I have some indoor jobs that I really must do.

Anyway, I think that is quite enough waffle for one post.smiley - winkeye

Hi Liz smiley - smiley

Well you have certainly put a smile to my face smiley - smiley
Well at the moment i am nursing a broken wrist, with pins and plaster to heal it quicker.
That is why i am on now until 13:00pm, for i will be going shopping at that time for the Caf
Sorry for my ignorance but i haven't heard of BOTF before, with me being new to the site i am just getting use it at the moment.
What exactly is your job and whats it called?
Braintree is about 15 to 20 miles away from me i think, but it could be further i'm not so sure really.
Oh the weather is mixed bag today, for it is raining one minute then all of a sudden the sun comes out.
I originally come Liverpool but i moved here with my mum, cos my dad had an affair with a younger woman.
I am sorry this has taken so long, you see i have never used anything like this before.

Hello, I hope you had a nice weekend.

My job is not terribly interesting. I am an Administrative Assistant at a college. It's mostly very dull with occassional spurts of activity, usually caused by my boss having forgotten to do something. I had half a day's leave this morning because I was getting my electricity meter changed and so I didn't get into the office until after 1pm but by three o'clock I felt as though I had been here forever!

I'm sorry to hear about your wrist. Will you be in plaster for long? How did you break it? I guess you must have had an operation to put the pins in. Poor you. I hate hospitals.smiley - nurse

Anyway, I had better get on. My boss thinks I'm working.

Hi Liz smiley - smiley

I hope that i am forgiven for only just getting back to you, but i have been rather busy lately what with the caf, and aswell as my wrist being sore.
I hope that i find you as healthy as me, for at the mo i am nursing a broken ankle now smiley - sadface
Oh my life at the mo is upset down, i think that i need to start afresh smiley - smiley
How did i break my wrist you ask, well i went and slipped over some water what my assistant spil't, and she never told me that she did or even put the wet floor sign up.
And now i have gone and broke my ankle by running for the train, i was coming back from Southport with my family for we had a week away.
Well like i said i just hope that i am forgiven.

Oh poor you! smiley - injured You have been in the wars!

Did you go to Southport for the bank holiday? I had visitors to stay with me. My brother came down from Birmingham and bought his girlfriend, who is also called Liz. I hadn't met her before, but she is really nice and I feel as though I have always known her. We took them to Lavenham on Sunday and then just down to Felixstowe on Monday (they wanted to go to the seasidesmiley - smiley) The weather stayed fine on Sunday but it was wet on Monday. Did the weather stay fine for you?

So I guess you will be off work for a while with your broken ankle? I hope you don't get too bored.

Cheers for now.

Good morning.

My brother lives at Kings Heath, which seems like a nice area. He shares a house with a couple of mates and they have recently moved, so I am looking forward to visiting them at their new place. He seems pretty serious with his new girlfriend so it wouldn't surprise me if he moved in with her eventually. I'm very fond of my brother. I grew up with two younger brothers and one of them died in 1989 so Jon is especially important to me. Also, I think that the fact neither of us have any children of our own probably makes us a bit closer than some siblings.

My parents live in Lincolnshire and I speak to my Mum on the phone every Thursday night. They have just sold their house so they are now looking for somewhere else to live. They have lived there for 19 years so it seems strange that they are moving. There are still a couple of boxes of my old toys in their loft so I suppose I had better pop up and retrieve them soon. I want to move house myself, so I could do without filling my house up with more junk, but I can't really expect them to still be carting my things around with them 16 years after I left home.

Seven weeks is a long time to be off work. The longest I was ever off was three-and-a-half weeks after an operation. I like being at home and I don't get bored at all. I'm far more likely to get bored at work.

It's strange how in life you can go through runs of bad luck. I can think of about three separate years that were total disasters for me and it sounds as though this is such a year for you. Still, you can console yourself with the thought that things can only get better.smiley - cheerup

Hi Liz

I wish that i had a close relationship with my family, but i hardly see them for they are all scattered here there and everywhere.
Oh i am very close to my mum for she has been there for me in everything, she is also my best mate too and i wouldn't swap her for the world.
My father well i don't even know where he is, i think he is still in Liverpool somewhere with his flimsy of a girl.
She is only 7 years older than me aswell, that is why my mum and i moved here.
I love it here now for i have made many a friend since i have been here, and i have also come on this sight to make more friends.
I am talking to an Australian guy called Biomass, and he is such a gentleman the way he comes forward.
He hasn't replied to me as yet but i hope that he does, cos he sounds very interesting in what he does.
I have an Uncle that lives in Victoria in Melbourne too, he drives the buses over there for the tourists aswell as the river taxis.
Oh here i go againg rambling on as per usual, i should have called myself rambling rose smiley - smiley
One more thing to say now just incase i forget to mention it, and that is bad luck runs in the family smiley - smiley
My mum has not long got over a major operation to unblock her valves in her heart, so i am looking after her aswell as myself.
Anyway if i say any more i won't have anything else to say to you when you get back to me will i, so i will go for now until you do get back to me ok.
Speak soon i hope for i really like chatting with you.

You don’t have to live near to your family to have a close relationship with them. My Mum is two hours drive away and my brother three hours. I keep in touch with my brother my phone and e-mail and I speak to my Mum on the phone every week. I also speak to my Grandma most weeks too. She lives in Lincolnshire, about six miles from my parents and my Dad’s younger brother (who is nearly 50) still lives with her. Grandma is 84 and some days she is really sharp and other times she is rambling and confused. I had a very long waffly conversation with her on the phone yesterday, during which she told me something about Uncle David no less than five times.smiley - erm When she’s up she’s brilliant, but when she is down she is hard work! My Uncle hides up in his room sometimes (because she drives him mad) and so I think she gets lonely. She actually rang me twice yesterday, but the second time was to ask if my brother has a phone number other than his mobile, which he doesn’t, so I texted him and asked him to call her. I do the ‘nagging older sister’ thing really rather well.smiley - winkeye

Did I tell you that me and my brother are taking my parents away for their 40th wedding anniversary next month? They think the are coming to stay at my house for the weekend, but we have booked a hotel in London and tickets for a show and my brother has booked train tickets for them to travel down there. It’s less than five weeks away now and I am rather looking forward to it. My boyfriend is being a pain at the moment, so it’s really nice to have something to look forward to.

I hope you and your Mum and both recovering well. At least you can keep each other company.smiley - cheerup
