NaJoPoMo, Nov 26: Sharp Dressed Man

(ZZ Top)

Not today, really - even if I am Santraing (that is, posting while mobile/travelling for those of you not familiar with the term from the Salon) en route to my mother-in-law, we'renot going to any formal event.

But at w**k, the big conversation topic in the corridors and at the lunch tables at the moment is the upcoming Christmas party on Dec 9. The theme this year is an Os ar celebration (well, the awards are named Ditlevs from a middle name of the company founder and no one knows what they will be awarded for) and the dress code is "whatever makes you feel fabulous".

We've discussed a coordinated department theme, but it seems to run a bit out in the sand. We'll at least make a group arrival om the red carpet.

As to what I'll wear, I will go for black tie. Which requires a brush-up on tying a bow tie. Youtube is my friend smiley - smiley

NaJoPoMo, Nov 25: Back to Black

(Amy Winehouse)

Nothing about depression or things going off-kilter, don't worry smiley - smiley

In "stream-of-consciousness" style that I've tried to do with the music links, it's the artist that triggers the topic today. Again, not gloom and death - but wine smiley - smiley

Very unusually, we had a sip of wine doing our monthly department meeting this morning - and all for business reasons. See, our French colleague responsible for the wine-related business was there - always nice - and had a good story to tell about successful introductions of a new product just being launched.

And we of course had to sample a customer's end product smiley - smiley

For those wine interested ones, it was a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. A little to pale in colour and acidic for my taste, even if it was fruity-acidic and not just pucker of lemon acidic.

(BTW, the paleness spoiled my first musical choice which was Gold/Spandau Ballet - just didn't match...)

NaJoPoMo, Nov 24: I've Been to Town

(Cæcile Norby)

Another Danish singer doing kind things to my ears.

The town-thing for some reason made me think that I'l be going - not to town but to the "city of cities", Paris, on Monday.

It's w**k of course, but I'm always enjoying going there. Probably the city outside Denmark that I have visited most often, so I have done the things a tourist must do to pay the proper respects. In other words, I can just see, do and taste what I feel like. Helps of course that I speak the language reasonably well.

On top of all that, we'll be a quite huge bunch of people from the company, which is always fun in itself smiley - smiley

NaJoPoMo, Nov 23: Down on West Fuxing Lu

(Sinne Eeg)

For no other reason that this is - IMHO - jazz at it's best and the song is absolutely brilliantly sung!

I have introduced some hootooizens to Danish singer Sinne Eeg before - if anyone else shares a liking for female jazz singers in a small group (here with bass, drums & piano), I can only recommend diving right in.

The album it's from, Don't Be So Blue, won Danish Music Award 2010 for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year.

(hint: at least from here, it's available on Spotify)

NaJoPoMo, Nov 22: What's Up?

(4 Non Blondes)

Nothing much - or quite something, depending on how you look at it.

Having a quiet morning working from home - which means that at 07:54 I have already done a product margin analysis using SAP data (bless having a blistering internet connection - heavy systems at w**k are just about as fast to access from home, if not better) and sent it to those in need of it.

The smiley - dog's snoring behind me and I can have the music as loud as I want. And in just a little while I'm going to make myself a decent smiley - cappuccino (well, technically a latte but still).

The reason for basking in the relaxed atmosphere, though, is that I'm due for a "follow-up meeting" at the senior center where my Mother now resides, here a month(ish) after she moved there.

It *seems* she's settling in - but at intervals we still get the "Now, I want to move back home!" That is understandable enough - if it wasn't for the fact that "home" is typically either the house that I grew up in which was sold in 2004 or her childhood home...

We'll see how it goes.
