May the Force be with you!

Post 1

Hi Wildcat, JEllen here.

I can't believe you found a map with TN on it on h2g2! That's great!

Yeh, I'm a Star Wars fan from way back. I was eleven years old when Star Wars came out, and it blew me away. Loved Empire too, but was very disappointed in Jedi. And yes, I like Star Trek too. Mirror, Mirror is my favorite episode - the one where they go to an alternate universe Enterprise, where everyone is cutthroat and savage.

Yep, nearly fell out of my chair when I saw that picture of Tenn. Esp when the little dot was flashing right on K-town (well almost)!

Guess you figured out I'm a little older than you, but not that much.

I've been telling Galaxy Babe all about my exploits at Star Trek conventions in our conversations. I found out about Sci-Fi conventions when Jedi was released. There was a convention here in Knoxville the weekend after the movie was released, so I HAD to go. I was really more into Star Wars then, not so much Trek.

Please go to my space and follow the One Trek Fan to Another thread, that will be a lot quicker, and I won't have to be worried about leaving stuff out that I've told her.

Anyway, have you been to any conventions?

I saw on your space that you are an artist, did you go the the Master's exibit that was in Memphis this past summer? A friend and I wanted to go when we were in Camden, but time wouldn't permit. There was an article in the local paper about it and it sounded fab. We rarely get the really big exhibits like that here in Knoxville.

I still think of myself as a newbie at this, and I haven't quite gotten the hang of doing all the link things yet, even tho GB has told me how.

Oh, BTW, can you print any of these posts off? I haven't tried, I've been kind of afraid too. Wasn't sure if it was against the rules or not. One of the other threads I've been posting on, we exchange recipes, and it sure would be easier if you could just print, and not have to write in long hand.

Well, gotta smiley - run, need to give little smiley - dog his evening meds. His name is Vanyel. He is a toy poodle mix, and has seizures. My other smiley - dog is a Lab mix and his name is Luke. When I first got him, I had a female named Leia. smiley - whistle

Yes, you can certainly print stuff from h2g2 - I recommend "copying and pasting" with your mouse whatever you want to print into a wordprocessor document. That way you don't have to print the entire page.

Yes, I saw the Masters of Florence exhibit! It was quite wonderful, especially the Leonardo da Vinci sketch. But I do wish they had included more Botticelli, and more Renaissance era art in general. But then I cannot get enough of my favorite painters. A trip to Europe when I was a teenager really spoiled me! Memphis is lucky to have the Wonders Exhibits -- my favorites are still the Egyptian ones.

Good to hear from you!

Not too bad, going to PT at now. I think I have a tear in my rotator cuff in my right shoulder. smiley - injured Anyway I've had very limited range of motion for over a year now, and my Doctor FINALLY agreed to physical therapy.

X-ray's don't show anything wrong, but then, only an MRI would, and my insurance wouldn't pay for that yet. smiley - erm

I had a bit of a manic period the other day, and bought all of the Highlander television series on DVD. My Dad had already given me season 5 for Christmas, and when I saw on the internet that the rest of them were on sale for less than half off I couldn't resist.

At least I didn't max out my credit card, only spent a couple of hundred. I still have plenty of room left for emergencys.

So I've been having lots of fun smiley - drool over Adrian Paul for the past few days.

(How did you know I needed that towel?smiley - winkeye)

Been colder than a grave diggers shovel up here, but is starting to warm up, we even got a light dusting of snow Saturday night. How has it been out your way, looked like on the weather map you folks had it pretty cold too last weekend.

I know you don't want to talk much about your Mom, but how are things going in general, smiley - hug and how's the new baby? Growing like a weed I'll bet. Turning over yet?

May the Force be with you!

A tear in your rotator cuff sounds painful indeed! Does the physical therapy hurt? I guess the PT will help more in the long run, eh?

Mom is doing a little better this week - I hope the improvement lasts a good while.

I haven't seen my neice's baby in a few weeks; I assume the parents have their hands full and the baby is doing fine!

I splurged on something myself this week -- I bought a poster on Ebay! Found a poster of Cate Blanchett for only $8. I got it in the mail today and am thrilled. I was very lucky - no one bid against me.

You mentioned being manic some - I guess you know from my journal I have mania sometimes too. Lotta folks on h2g2 do, actually. Have you met Manic Vixen? She is a talented artist. And Ed is bipolar too. He's started an h2g2 Film Club, which I am excited about.

It's been alternating cold and warm in Memphis - very odd weather.

Chow for now. Talk soon.

May the Force be with you!

PT hurts! I know it has to be done, tho. My therapist is really good and doesn't push TOO much, just to the point when I tell her I can't stand it any more. smiley - winkeye

I'm making progress, and hopefully will get most of my range of motion back.

Glad to hear your Mom is doing better, hope it lasts a good while.

Congrats on the posters, feels good, doesn't it.

Gotta run, breakfast is almost ready.

smiley - run
