Hi MrMaven, my name is Alison and I am an ACE here on h2g2. This stands for Assistant Community Editor - it's our job to welcome new researchers to the site and make them feel at home. There are loads of ACEs and we're all helpful and friendly. Click here to find out more: Aces
Why don't you tell us a little about yourself? You can update your Personal Space at any time by clicking 'Edit Page'. For tips on spicing up your user page, click here A690518. If you want to see what other people have written on theirs, click their name at the top of a conversation posting.
A really quick way to jazz up your user page or conversations is with the many smileys To see the whole list and how to use them, click here: <./>Smiley</.>
If you haven't done so already, you could check out the <./>Welcome</.> page or catch a and take the <./>DontPanic-Tour</.>. This page may also be useful as it is written especially for beginners A719840. By the way, if you're confused about any of the words or terms used around the site, try looking them up in the h2g2 Glossary A901829.
There are three main things you can do on h2g2 - you can <./>read</.> what others have written, you can <./>talk</.> to the rest of the community, or you can write your own entries for others to read: Writing-Beginners If you want something to read you could try h2g2's own weekly newspaper <./>ThePost</.> which is full of cool articles, stories and cartoons. Or if you feel really daring, you could try a <./>RandomEditedEntry</.> Who knows what you'll end up with!
Well hopefully that should be enough to get you started. If you have any questions or just want to chat, click reply and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Or go to the Ace's homepage using the link above and ask there! Someone will be more than happy to help!
In the meantime, have some , explore the site and enjoy yourself!
Welcome to h2g2!

Sorry to take so long to get back to you but was working out what to put on my space. Have put something about myself on there? What do you think of it so far?
Am also thinking of transferring some stuff I have done outside to H2G2. One of these is a list of stimulating questions such as:-
Will ID cards enable the governement to detect Bulgarian Roof Tilers?
As this would be something that was updated every couple of weeks (or so) I am not sure of the best way to go about it. Does it make sense to post an entry that is updated so often or can I set up a sub page or what?
Any idea what the best way to go about this is?
Thanking You In Anticipation
Welcome to h2g2!

Thanks for getting back to me, it's nice to hear from you. It sounds like you're enjoying hootoo (nickname for h2g2) so far and I'm glad Your personal space is looking good so far.
It is very easy to update your personal space, simply click on the 'edit page' button, make the changes in the box and press submit. You can keep doing this as many times as you want until you get it right, and you could update it every day if you wanted to.
However if this is something you don't want to be on your personal space you can make a separate page for it. Just click on the 'write an entry' button (on the left panel if you are using Brunel skin). You can update this just as simply as your personal space using the same method. The other advantage of doing it this way is that if people wanted to make comments about what you've written, there could be a discussion solely for this at the bottom of the page. You could put a link to the page on your personal space to let visitors to your space know that you've written it
Hope this answered your question. If you need any more help, don't hesistate to reply to this thread, or leave me a message on my personal space (click my name at the top of this post to get there). If I'm not around (bit busy at uni sometimes so don't get that much time to faff on h2g2 unfortunately ) leave a message on the Ace homepage and someone else will help you.
Take care, love Alison
