Now, if you could take your eyes off Wrinkled Rocker and climb down from the back of the truck, I'll buy you a birthday ice-cream!

Thank you ladies...
I suffered a mega sulk yesterday and could frequently be heard muttering under my breath "Forty f*****g five!". However I feel much better today and have once again buried my head in a bucket of - only to preserve/pickle my good looks of course!
Happy Birthday!

A belated Happy Birthday, Gwennie!
I'll be 47 on Friday . My older brother is 50 tomorrow
So we can all be miserable together.
On the other hand we have all survived another year more or less intact
Happy Birthday!

I'm already 47....do you feel better now?
Happy birthday from me, a little late, but better than never!

I wonder what our collective ages are....but then, who cares!
With age comes wisdom, maturity & wrinkles. Wear them with pride!
Happy Birthday!

Thanks Caerwynn and GB!
A couple of years ago I decided to try and walk around with a large and vacant grin on my face so that my wrinkles don't all pull my face downwards as they develop!
People must wonder what I'm grinning at and sometimes it's fun to see who grins back...
What was that about wisdom and maturity GB?
Happy Birthday!

I'm aiming at vertical wrinkles only - laughter wrinkles! It makes me when I see a really old person suddenly smiling - it looks as if their whole face is smiling, if you know what I mean..
..I try to avoid the vertical wrinkles that come from frowning or expressing disgust
Happy Birthday!

There's always botox if you are rich, brave or daft enough to be injected with one of the most deadly toxins known to man
My Mum had quite a few wrinkles after years in the tropics and being a dedicated sun worshipper, but as not many as some I've seen, however No1 son when about 7 told her that her skin was too big . Fortunately she thought it was hysterical. She always wore what she called a pleasant expression, slight smile, for the same reason, it lifts the wrinkles.
I hope I have inherited her ageing genes. Although, my Welsh granny(Dad's Mum) had hardly any wrinkles, but she never went out in the sun without her hat.
Happy Birthday!

LOL! I love the skin too big thing Caerwynn! When I was a little girl, I asked my granddad why he had grey grass growing out of his chest!
Mair, my teenage mutant sulk-a-lot told me one day, in front of my colleagues at the Red Cross Shop that when I smiled my face went all wrinkly! She was promptly inundated with lots of 'Run for it!' advice from the other girls!
I stopped sunbathing just over ten years ago whilst living in NZ because the sun was so hot (it was like sitting too close to an electric bar fire, even after only a few minutes!). However, years of sun worshiping and sun beds caught up with me about five years ago in the form of a malignant melanoma on my left thigh. Fortunately, I caught it very early and am alive to tell the tale. I love the sun though and really do miss being able to sunbathe...Soaking up all that heat is like having a wonderful massage...Just call me a rock lizard!
There are some Yoga facial exercises that are supposed to stretch the muscles etc, but they're not a pretty sight! (I know from experience!)
Happy Birthday!

Do those exerices include the one where you stick your tongue out like the Maori greeting? If I remember I do those ones where you use your fingers as restistance.
I sunbathe a lot less than I used to, but I expect burning badly when we first moved to Singapore for 3 years has stored up problems. Dad has just had plastic surgery to his scalp requiring skin grafting for squamous cell cancer. I'm very relieved to hear that your melanoma was treated quickly, Gwennie.
Happy Birthday!
Gwennie Posted Jul 5, 2002
Yes they do! I usually keep them for the bathroom, during/after my shower and hope that I remember not to practice in the communal showers at the leisure centre!
Oh your poor Dad! That skin graft must be really painful...
Whether as a result of too much sun during my youth or due to hormonal changes, shortly after Mair was born I developed masses of Campbell de Morgan spots. They look like little red moles and I've been told they're harmless but the melanoma actually developed from one of these that I had accidentally knocked the top off, so I'm really careful not to damage them now.
*s to wish Caerwynn a happy birthday*
