h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

For a start, I will be glad to gift you with a copy of Irv.jpg, what hangs so proudly in the lobby of the book nook.

Second, I'll repeat a comment I made somewhere else: well, 2 comments: 1. You need to hire someone to keep the wormhole mopped; people who aren't used to the experience do keep sloshing their coffee...

And 2. Would you hire me as artist-in-residence? I'll even put on a beret.

I have an ambition to paint the main counter at the Aroma Cafe, but that would be a BIG image and I would make it accessible offsite. One of the many things I'm trying to do besides write some code and review Riddley Walker is learn web design because I'm fixing to set up my domain.

So. What sort of decor bits did you have in mind? And how do I convey them to you?

Perhaps a tie-dyed espresso machine is in order...

The only problem with lots of art in the cafe is loading time... maybe we could have a link to an non-h2g2 page just for your art? At your leisure, of course.

Gotcha at the other post, and jpg is on its way.

True about download time, and the book nook jpgs
are big in the sense of taking up space. But they
are what they are: detailed.

In fact I asked Bruce about this and he went off
for a look at the booknook, then reported back that,
as that page loads faster than his, what's the
problem?

So you would specify dimensions as in pixels long
and wide. And I would try to make an image to fit.

Is it a proper black beret?

I'm not sure what defines proper. I got it from my french teacher my freshman year of high school for making it through the year without being absent. It's black and french looking.

I don't want to break in on you here (netiquette never was my strongpoint) but every time I've tried wearing a beret in public I've ended up being chased down the street by people shouting 'Ooooh Betty! The cat's done a whoopsie!' This may be less of a problem outside the UK but it's still something to bear in mind. Sorry again for the interruption. (For what it's worth the art in the cafe is tip-top.)

Irv, would you think about opening another counter at the Cafe? The Änother Counter"counter is 8 weeks old and is beginning to lag seriously. Why is always me asking for new threads? I must have seriously poor impulse control

I was waiting to see if anyone would take the initiative to start a new counter thread on his/ her own. I'll do it when I have the time (I've got to get ready for class right now). Rest assured that there will be a new thread by the end of the week, at least!
