No. I wouldn't mind a bit...
I will say that all your entries have made me want to visit the Isle of Wight if/when I ever get across the ocean.
And while I'm there maybe I'll even write an entry or two just for laughs, assuming that there'll be anything left to write about. (perhaps Isle of Wight - a tourist's perspective? )
Just Wondering....
Bluebottle Posted Apr 8, 2002
...That's an interesting idea - the Island does get over 1 million tourists during the summer, which is awkward as the Island's population is about 120,000. But I'd be interested to see what you thought of the place.

Probably.
Just wondering how many graphics you've have drawn for approved/edited articles. See: F86652?thread=174659

Ooh! Photographs! I've got a couple of those on my articles on peirs approved - but I took mine.
Did you take that photo?

Jimi X Posted Apr 11, 2002
Yes, yes I did!
Almost all the entries in that project have Jimi X original photos...
So if you include all those, I've had quite a few with artwork. But only two by the art team (if one artist can be called a 'team' )
Just Wondering....
Bluebottle Posted Apr 12, 2002
Ah. I had quite a few photos etc. for my project approved originally - many of which, for the older peirs that no longer exiost, were postcards, and so were removed when we became part of the BBC.

In any case, I wonder if you have seen about the Post my column "Hiking Through H2G2", which is in it sometimes. I was planning on writing an article about people who write articles about places, and was wondering if I could, in a leisurely pace, "interview", well chat to, you about your articles on that place beginning with P.

Jimi X Posted Jul 29, 2002
I have seen your Hiking stories and I'd *still* be willing to be interviewed.
Anything for my adoring public.
What time frame were you thinking of? I can be on AIM if you want a free-wheeling give-and-take style of interview or you can simply e-mail me some questions to answer, or you could just post something on h2g2.
Whatever is most convenient for you...

Bluebottle Posted Aug 1, 2002
The Time Frame is "This month, or the next, or possibly the next one, but probably not later than that. Unless it is".
I just plan to ask general questions here on h2g2, and you answering them any way you like will be great. I don't know how much in the way of quotes I'll include, but anything will be helpful.
So, let's start off with general questions like:
What was the first article on Pennsylvania you wrote?
How well do you think you know Pennsylvania?
Are any of the articles written by other people, and what do you think about them?
Which do you think is your best article on Pennsylvania?
Which do you think is your worst?
If I think of any more questions, I'll let you know, but that's more than enough to start with.

My first Edited Entry was a blurb in the collaborative International Driving Etiquette entry about driving in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In fact, this was the first-ever thing I posted to h2g2!
F18377?thread=15877&post=60990#p60990
Due to the size of the Driving Etiquette entry, it was later broken into parts and mine ended up in Driving Etiquette - USA (A412958)
But the first entry I wrote for the Guide was 'Mad' Anthony's Ghost (A219809) though I didn't 'submit it for rejection' (remember that?) until after I had submitted another one on Pennsylvania's Great Walking Purchase (A219070).
=============
As far as my knowledge of the Keystone State, I'd say it's probably better than most. I'm really *very* familiar with the southcentral and southwestern parts of the state, but there are huge parts of it that I could learn more about.
==============
Of the 54 Edited Entries on Pennsylvania, I did all but 5. I really like the one on Pittsburgh (A134722) and the Philadelphia Cheesesteak (A346259).
The Pittsburg one is a perfect old-school entry with just enough information to whet the imagination. And I'm a total cheesesteak junkie and I've eaten my share (and a few others' share) at Pat's.
================
My best article?
I don't know. That's hard to judge. It's like asking which is my favourite child. How about if I cheat a little and say my favourite piece of work is the University project I did on Milton S Hershey's Philanthropic Legacy (A308936).
That's a really difficult question to answer. I've written about my favourite restaurant (A292664); some obscure places nobody else knows about (A531343); and some random weird stuff like (A536573).
I guess it depends on my mood which kind of entry is my favourite, but I think my best work is that Uni project.
================
My least favourite?
That's tough too. I'm never totally happy with anything I write and I tend to want to keep re-writing things until I get it 'just so'. Probably my least favourite is the one about Hawk Mountain (A219809) because it's so superficial and I could do so much more with that topic today.
=============
Why do I do it?
I really do love the idea that Douglas had for the site - creating an 'unconventional' Guide to Life, the Universe and Everything. Being the only Researcher in my immediate surroundings, I reckon I've got unique knowledge that I can share with the rest of the world.
Plus, my job is a bit of a downer and I need to keep my writing sharp and I'm prohibited from writing for our local newspapers and magazines because of conflict of interest problems.
And besides, these entries aren't really 'print quality' - they're still too superficial for that. But it beats going crazy I reckon.
I tried going crazy for a while. Kept imagining I was a lemon and I jumped in and out of a lake I thought was gin and tonic.
Really, I'm glad some people read them and enjoy them. Nice to know my writing's still better than a stick in the eye.
Let me know if that's enough ramblings or if you need more to fill the page.
