OK, so that's resolution number one out the window...!
Nothing much has been happening to tell people about, so I haven't been saying anything, really. I have gained a new computer, and a phone extension in the spare room to plug it into. I've also completed most of the obligations I have had to bug me for a little while, so I'm turning my attention to making money, instead.
The downside of the new computer, of course, is that I now have a whole lot of software I can no longer use, which is annoying.
The weather has been typically summery, although not frequently as heavy and hot as it is today. The new 'computer room' is a sweat box, but I suspect that that's likely to be true of my room as I try to get to sleep tonight, too.
Sport is all that there is on the television, so tonight the internet is my friend...

Appropriate that the new millenium starts on a Monday, really, and even more appropriate that everyone in this country has the day off...
Weather: fine, oppressively hot - even if it really isn't all that hot, just oppressive: heavy, hot wind - and slightly cloudy. Perfect summer weather, really.
I resolve to keep my journal a bit better updated this year, and to get some more editing done.
Where is everybody?

Another day at the Folk Festival. A beautiful, hot, sunny day, as it happens....
Nothing much to report, but life is not miserable. I have met all my commtiments for this time of the year, made all the contacts I can make, talked to all the people I can talk to. The nice day helps, of course.
Going home on Sunday, but Dad's just back from China, and is likely not to be in that good a humour. It will be an interesting interlude.
I miss people.

The ISP account turned out to be overdrawn on download memory. As a result, I've had to spend a hundred dollars that I didn't have, making the account work again, so I can clean up some of the junky Email that's accumulated since then!
I have completed the fitness instructor's Core Theory course, with a 95% pass in the registration exam, so now all I have to do is complete the aerobics instructors' course, a first aid course, and the practical assessment, and I'll be able to be an aerobics instructor. It's interesting, this...
I received a letter today from one of the best people I know. Christmas is a special time, and it's that much more special for knowing that people like her are still there, and still making contact, even if slightly less reputable people like me keep failing the standards which they set to measure me by! Her letter caused me to go through a lot of the stuff from my Beijing experience - which was where I met her - and I've been on a gross nostalgia trip since then.
We finished tidying up the database at the Folk Festival, today, and boy am I glad that's over. Now we move into programming the performance calendar, which will be an interesting experience, I suspect. Ticketing's coming up in January, and now's a good time to be able to take a breather.
The weather's lifted remarkably since early November. It's actually been sunny for the last couple of weeks, although I'd still lay odds that Christmas Day will be overcast and miserable. I get to spend Christmas at home with my parents, this year, licking my wounds and dreaming of ways to make things better. I hope it works...!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
