ok - in the user accounts it shows -
graham - computer administrator
bagpuss - computer administrator
guest account - guest account is off
i am using the bagpuss account which i had to set up
yesterday it said
administrator - and wouldnt let me rename it
graham - computer administrator
today the only user account in there when i booted was graham - computer administrator
administrator had completely disappeared - hence me opening the bagpuss account

Ah it sounds like the first account was Graham's then. Maybe when you re-booted you didn't put a password, you just installed all your stuff and then created a new account for Graham, which then became the first Admin account. If you've now created a new admin account for bagpuss, does it show up in there now?

Everything you do has to be done in Admin. Every other account which doesn't have admin privileges have to go through the administrator to install stuff, and also the administrator has to say what stuff he/she will share with the non admin users. If yourself and hubby have both got admin rights, you both have full access to that computer.
Not sure about the screen res thing not being able to see it, but is it in the bar with the clock?
