Subbing the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes film guide

Hiya BB
I am sure you don't need any clues as to why I'm here.
I have taken your article to sub, please go subscribe to A87982889 and I suspect that I'll be back soon with queries or questions.
I bought my partner a deerstalker hat for Christmas - we are both Sherlock fans. He loves it and looks very dapper in it. I was wondering if you'd like me to photograph the hat (from the side maybe?) to adorn your entry. Just a thought.

I've already sent in a couple of suggestions for the s to consider, but there's no guarantee it'll be accepted so I'd say go for it - even if it isn't accepted for this entry there are other Sherlock Holmes entries as well as so I dare say it'll find a good home - or should that be Holmes?

"Scenes were written explaining how Mateo sought revenge on the family after blaming Miss Brandon's father for the death of his father and for stealing the mine that made the Brandon family wealthy were written, and that Moriarty visited Hunter's office purely to throw suspicion on him."
I'm really struggling with that sentence, which just doesn't work for me. Perhaps it's the repetition of "were written".

Let it be written
"Scenes were written to explain the loopholes, but these were never filmed. These would have explained that Moriarty visited Hunter's office purely to throw suspicion on him. It would also have explained that Mateo sought revenge on the Brandon family as he blamed Miss Brandon's father for his own father's death, which Mateo believed allowed Mr Brandon to steal the mine that made the Brandon family wealthy."

"Loosely inspired by a Conan Doyle short stories based during the First World War"
is there something missing there, or should it be "short story"?

Why? Why? Why? Yes, it should be a 'Y' to be short storY not stories.

>>Originally released as Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Code in the UK due to films titled 'Dressed to Kill' having been released in 1928 and 1941, this was the closest film the series came to featuring Irene Adler, who must surely have been the inspiration for Irene Courtney. <<
I don't know who those two Irenes are in relevance to 'Dressed to Kill'?

That is a bit of an awkward sentence that needs to be split up. How about:
'Originally released as Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Code in the UK due to films titled 'Dressed to Kill' having been released in 1928 and 1941. this was the closest film the series came to featuring Conan Doyle's popular character Irene Adler, who was the inspiration for this film's femme fatale Hilda Courtney. Adler is even mentioned in this film, as is magazine The Strand...'
That should make more sense.
