Hi <BB< I've subbed The John Gardner James Bond Novels. The new version is A87976499 - please subscribe smiley - biggrin

There was an interesting GuideML challenge here - the GuideML of the list of novels looked good, but the numbering was all strange, so I put each unordered list item inside the adjacent ordered list item and that fixed it! smiley - ok

I tweaked the order of paragraphs to make it like your Beatles Entries, where the narrative is at the top and then the detail of the songs/books is at the end smiley - ok

"Ann O'Reilly nicknamed Q'ute, Q's assistant, appears regularly from now on." - does that mean she is a Bond Girl in all the other books as well?

In Icebreaker, the weapons are smuggled "across the frozen Russian/Norwegian border in the Arctic Circle" but then the book is partly set at the Finnish/Russian Border - should 'Norwegian' read 'Finnish' or is there something else going on in the book?

"SPEC for short. That'll fool all the world's security organisations looking for SPECTRE." smiley - snork

Reconciling the continuity of Licence to Kill novel, film and novelisation is a beast smiley - monstersmiley - headhurts Can't blame Gardner for including Milton Krest in the novelisation of the film, given that Krest did appear in the film... I've made some changes in an attempt to clarify things, but if anything needs rephrasing, just let me know.

"agents of China come to purchase the plans" - is that a quote from the book?

"Will the world be rocking and a rolling, rocking and a reeling from the Barbarossa man?" - I can't guess the reference there, sorry - the closest I could find in a quick search was Dave Clark Five "We were reelin' and a- rockin' and rollin' till the break of dawn " but that doesn't sound right smiley - huh

I'm confused by the Tempesta family - Sukie is a member of the Tempesta family, either by birth or marriage? Her sons-in-law are married to her daughters and are members of the Tempesta family?

smiley - ok

Thanks for volunteering to sub this - I'll help with your questions.

smiley - modAnn O'Reilly aka Q'ute appears in all the novels (but not the two novelisations) but is only a Bond girl (ie, someone Bond has a relationship with) when she seduces him in the first novel. From then on she is a work colleague.

In 'Icebreaker' Bond is at the north of Finland near the border with Norway investigating reports that weapons are being smuggled out of Russia, but they are being smuggled out across the Norway/Russia border. So you could change it to say the book is set in the Arctic around the Finnish/Norwegian/Russian Border.

'agents of China come to purchase the plans' isn't a quote from the book. Had I written that Bond and Chi-Chi were pretending to be Chinese agents it would imply that Bond was pretending to be Chinese, which might result in the reader seeing images of him putting on a stereotypical and/or racist disguise and make-up. No, he was pretending to be a British citizen employed by China to work for China as an agent and, on this occasion, do a spot of plan purchasing.

The paraphrase is Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys:
smiley - whistlesmiley - musicalnoteYou've got me rockin' and a-rollin', rockin' and a-reelin' Barbara Ann
"Will the world be rocking and a rolling, rocking and a reeling from the Barbarossa man"

Principessa Sukie Tempesta, when first met, was a young, attractive widow whose husband, the unseen (being dead) - but already elderly at time of the marriage - Prince Tempesta had previously married and had sons Luigi and Angelo by his first wife (also deceased). Sukie was unaware that her husband's family had gained their wealth and position through criminal behaviour.

The only change I'd make is to 'Submarine-tracking plans had been a major plot point of The Spy Who Loved Me' and emphasise it is the film (when Fleming sold the film rights to that book it was on the condition the plot was completely different).
