So is the customer thing a real pain then cheeky?
Is it just the phone or has he met you as a customer?

he has been in to collect stock twice... my boss joked that we'll sell anything in here... he asked how much for me? Innocent fun i thought at the time but he now tells boss he only wants to speak to me etc etc and if anyone is meeting him with goods he wants it to be me..... i refused point blank!!

He just annoys me sometimes - i shouldn't let him get to me - after all i'm a ninja i shouldnt be showing my weak side!!

The point is that it's bothering you. If it was a member of my team I really would have dealt with it.

I think the only thing you can do if your boss hasn't got the nuts is to deal with him impersonally. No humour - nothing. Just say "I'd prefer not to have this conversation" or "if there's nothing else you need I have to make some calls etc" or "You'll have to excuse me I'm really busy".

Sometimes the trap is to think "I can't be rude to customers" so we use humour to deflect and it actually ends up sounding like "flirting" (and I know it's not). So - a little distance and a little cold shoulder.

But if it persists your boss has to intervene (or OH speaks to boss)

What I omitted was don't engage him in any personal dialogue other than work.
One of my team got nasty texts from an ex and used to respond. I told her that silence would hurt him more than trading insults and that she should never respond because in his mind it's a dialogue no matter how tenuous.

You're right Scooby - I do have a wee chat with most customers as you do you know the usual how are you? how's the weather? but i see what you mean - i know you don't mean you think i was intentionally flirting with him!!

I have deffo fallen into the trap of 'well i can't be rude because he's a customer' but i will try giving him the cold shoulder, i have to call him back on Monday so i'll give that a go!!

I had a nice quiet weekend thanks....took the dog for a long walk on Saturday and ended up sitting by the river with my friend drinking Pimms!!!! Dog was knackered when she got home!!!

I can hardly speak this morning cause I spent most of Sat night screeching on karaoke and I can't sing to save my life but I'd been out drinking since 12.30pm and got home at 1.30am so when the karaoke started up I was already well on my way

I can understand that!!!
My in laws stopped talking to me when me and my OH split up and HE cheated on ME!!!!!

Still, the plus side is I aviod lots of family carp!!!

Holly I noticed the change in relationship on FB and wondered if you had sorted everything out - but obviously not.

OH wasnae talking to me yesterday coz I went to bed at 1030 on Sat night for a half hour snooze and woke up at 630 am to much I think.

So he threw me out - I said grand I am taking everything and leaving you with what you brought into the marriage!
