Say no more

"Well done to Beeline, even if you are in the 'enemy' camp"

That's what someone said after that nasty argument here the other day. No, really.

I mean, if that doesn't illustrate exactly the problem, I don't know what does. Firstly, I'm in 'the enemy camp', and secondly, because of that, I'm expected to behave in a certain way.

Prejudice, folks. Pure and simple. Accept no imitations.

Yotting

I'm going yotting on a nice big yot with some friends this weekend. (It's a much better spelling, don't you think?)

I've never been before, but I have been windurfing, which I love deeply - speed and power for free! It's quite a big yot (sleeps 8) and we're going out of Hamble Marina tonight for a weekend pootle round the Solent, clinching ropes and leaning recklessly far out over the edge, no doubt.

Prepare for language liberally peppered with 'Aarrr's, 'Shiver-me-timber's and 'Lilly-livered land lubber's when I return.

If I return...

Arrived at last

Well, after a week of thrashing around this ridiculous thing they call a computer operating system, I've managed to get it conencted to the LAN, the web and finally to h2g2 again. Phew!

Now that's done, my work load can start to *ahem* re-acclimatise itself in this new office environment...

It's good to be back! smiley - smiley

Not really a dilemma

You see, I've been offered this great job in Covent Garden which is definitely more interesting than my current one. It does, however, involve a lot more work and therefore leaves little time for loafing around here.

Obviously I take the job, but it'll be hard to squeeze in the time for this sweet recreation. I'll manage. Somehow.

Home again, home again, jiggety-jig

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was almost certainly the most knackering of times.

Archaeological digs are hard work. Shovelling, mattocking, scraping, trowelling, brushing, cleaning, washing, drawing, measuring - it's not for the armchair-bound at all. Mind you, we found some fantastic remains of houses, streets, dumps and rubbish pits - stacks of pottery of all kinds. I even found a couple of coins (a Sestertius and a Denarius). Marvellous race the Romans. Marvellous.

The eclipse was astoundingly spectacular, even though the visibility wasn't by any means perfect. The suddenness of the change in light levels was extraordinary. Just thinking what was going on was mind-numbing - quintillions of tons of rock millions of miles apart alingning perfectly for just a couple of minutes. As I said. extraordinary.

And now back to work. Maybe I'll be changing jobs soon... I fancy something with a little more scope and interest. Watching Atherton bat, maybe.
