Back again...
Posted May 31, 2000
Sorry, I was gone for a minute there. Well alright, two weeks roughly.
Somehow, I managed to get my email address into the h2g2 database twice, so I couldn't get back in as beeline. Jim's fixed it up now, though, so it's nice to be back again.
I MUST TRY NOT TO BREAK THINGS
I MUST TRY NOT TO BREAK THINGS
I MUST TRY NOT TO BREAK THINGS
I MUST TRY NOT TO BREAK THINGS
I MUST TRY NOT TO BREAK THINGS
I MUST TRY NOT TO BREAK THINGS
I MUST TRY NOT TO BREAK THINGS
...
(Man, lines would have been a cinch if we'd been allowed to do them on a computer...)

Now I know it's true...

Having played a superb game of Rounders (or Softball) with the h2g2 crowd in Hyde Park yesterday, I feel that I would have remembered being beaten about the body with two-by-fours, because that's what it felt like this morning. I think I've pulled every muscle in body! That'll teach me to try to hard to hit the ball out of the park. (Except it wont.)
Great day out, though, and even the torrential thunderstorm wasn't enough to put a damper on things. I mean, that's why pubs were invented, right?
Kudos to Aby for arranging that, and for scoring so... um... elegantly!

Getting on a bit
Posted May 12, 2000
Me, that is.
Last Saturday, I went cycling for the first time in about three years. Central London not being the best place to keep fit on a bike, the machine had been sitting in my cellar gathering dust. Or possibly mouse droppings - it was hard to tell in the gloom.
Well, I pumped up the tyres and went out on what was a beautiful sunny day, and thought "Hey - I'm really enjoying this!" And I was. Until about three hours later, when my body said to me in no uncertain terms "Ha ha - yes, very funny. How novel. Now stop please. Right now."
I just about managed to get home before collapsing from heat stroke, feeling more shattered than I have ever felt before. But at least there were 5,000 people walking past my house in a "legalise cannabis" protest. Which was nice.

At last...
Posted Apr 28, 2000
After a ridiculous amount of time, way too much work to distract me, and too many evenings spent wading through excuses too poor to exercise and air in public, I have now updated my journal.
It is, actually, a very fine thing to write a few words every day or so - it gives people the chance to help you out of a potentially silly situation by just having an outside view; "Er, beeline - hang on a minute - you don't really want to worry about that, do you?" and so forth.
"That's rather a self-centered reason for wanting to write a journal entry!" you may cry. Well, being the sensitive and perceptive reader that I know you to be, I must credit you for your perspicacity. But then why post at all, unless it is for the prompting and temptation for ensuing conversation? That's my real reason for posting. I value your comments on my paltry exitence, but I also relish the chance that stimulating or surreal dialogue may follow... either is good for me.
Oh, and I'm also whistling slightly...

Write an Entry
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
