Questions for the oracle

DelphicOracle

Well, good idea yes, but not great in the execution. Parts of it are good, especially when setting out lots of trivia by analogy (eg relative ages of characters, events in their lives outside the show etc.) but there's a lot of dull filler (events of most episodes listed one after another in a not very exciting way).

Result: quite interesting to flick through, but not really worth the investment...

Right - so if I see it cheap on offer, grab it, but otherwise avoid. The same can be said for the Star Trek: Compendium. Good idea, just not much new. But mines the up-to ST:VI version

Have either of you played any of the Star Trek PC games?

Only "A Final Unity" on a friend's PC as I don't have a modern PC of my own. smiley - sadface

DelphicOracle

No, I haven't. That's not a very interesting answer, is it?

Post 26

I fear that's right. Oh well... smiley - sadface Still, we've both got plenty of othe rTrek experience to share, haven't we?

Unfortunately, my is less than encyclopaedic... could you fill in some gaps for me?

Post 28

DelphicOracle

Certainly, I have a large Polyfilla gun here, which is very good for filling any kind of gap.

Alternatively, I could just answer Star Trek questions for you, yes...

Okay - what starship has Registration number NCC-1864?

Post 30

DelphicOracle

I hope that isn't the sort of question he had in mind. On the soap-opera threads of on-going Trek plots, I am well up - but number questions, I can't be doing with 'em. smiley - smiley

Are you bored with being a Bluebottle, BTW?

Post 31

No - I enjoy being a Bluebottle - but I got fed up of seeing thousands of aces without any other cards being around - so I decided to be a Jack of Clubs. Someone's cheating here - but the poker's unbeatable!

Post 32

WowbaggerTIP

Surely it might be difficult to reproduce? After all, the Jack is male, and ACEs are neuter.... possibly some kind of cloning?

Questions for the oracle

Post 33

Bluebottle

Maybe - how else would birds, fish, etc reproduce except through cloning?

Questions for the oracle

Post 34

WowbaggerTIP

But birds and fish have male and female, erm, bits....

Questions for the oracle

Post 35

Bluebottle

Yes, but that doesn't mean they reproduce fish - bird

Post 36

DelphicOracle

Maybe they do, and that's where flying fish come from. Not to mention penguins...

Questions for the oracle

Post 37

Bluebottle

Good point - I'd never thought of that smiley - smiley

Eesh. That is particularly disgusting scenario, particularly from the penguin's perspective. It's like us seeing a film about a girl having sex with a horse.

I won't mention Catherine the Great of Russia...

That was truly repulsive, and thoroughly disgusting. This is possibly the best reason for the revolution, in my opinion.
