Back again, after loooong absense

Ok, it's been a long time, but now I'm back, and will hopefully start adding stuff on a more timely basis.

Things to come:
- More Roman history.mythology
- Article on the ancient Roman mystery novels by Lindsey Davis
- Maybe some reports on Roman archaeological sites in Britain
- Some stuff on psychology (the cool stuff on sensation and perception).

My Sister: The Primary School Teacher

This past week my sister, three of her collegues, a parent and the bus driver, too 53 ten and eleven year olds to the Peak Distract (Derbyshire) for a school holiday.

Now, my sister is a real dragon to those kids, and yet for some reason they all clambour to hold her hand (or other extremity) when on trips... WHY??

These are the questions for which I am being trained to answer... one day, I may even be able to explain my sister!!!

Pedestrians 1 : Wheelchair 0

A word of adviced: never, EVER, drive an electric wheelchair around town
when there is a special event going on. It isn't worth the cardiac arrest,
the constant nervous state or the insurance bill rising.

I've come to the conclusion that every man and his dog were in our local
town today - and they have the cheek to say that local towns are empty now
there is out-of-town shopping. Don't believe a word of it! If you want
to see people return to towns, just get a wheelchair, or a walking stick
and see the shoppers flooding bacl just for the honour of getting in your
way and nicking your orange badge holder's driving spaces.

Observation of the day: cats do not like barbeque sauce.

Happy Thought for the day: I missed seeing my sister sing in public!
Oh darn [slaps thigh in a theatrical way], what a shame!

The National Lottery

Mother bought a National Lottery ticket on Friday, it was her first one in about 10 or 12 weeks. She asked me to check the numbers on the Net; I needn't have done, it was very predictable - not ONE SINGLE number of ours came up. Another £1 wasted! Still, considering we haven't bought a ticket in over 10 weeks, I guess we've actually saved £10! That must be the secret to making money - don't spend any in the first place.

Observation of the day: Vacuum cleaners are very annoying when trying to write up an experiment report.
