Clearly you're not buying enough of their products, Bob.
That's the deal - you watch the shows, then you go buy some shampoo or whatever.

Looking forward to only watching commercials about stuff I actually need and can afford grumble grumble

That's your fault again. Advertising is specially selected for your demographic. You should be watching the shows which reflect your role in society, and then you'll find the products are more appropriate.

I luv watching the adverts, for the hype they put in
a shampoo sold 2 million bottles in Germany last year - so what!

bobstafford Posted Feb 24, 2015
As there are more than 80 million Germans so what, a bottle must last a long time.
I would love a TV that would mute the sound when the advertisements came on.
They have my demographic wrong then .........

My satellite TV supplier provided a bonus service for this year's advertising extravaganza known as The Superbowl. Their DVRs automatically recorded ONLY the advertisements so that viewers could watch them without the nuisance of sitting through long stretches of American Football (handegg).

I was watching "Mad Men" on DVD, and was amused by the episode about ad ideas for cigarettes. four out of five dead people smoke this brand, so it must be great .

re post 112:
During the World Cup in in South Africa in 2010 a lot of people complained about the infernal noise from vuvuzelas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpXN8BvGp_o
But of course there were also people complaining: "It annoys me greatly that people start playing whenever I attend a vuvuzela concert!"

Heh... a local politician in Houston made a similar, Downfall meme video concerning some local dispute. His political opponents completely failed to get the joke (Or they did and purposely chose to pretend they didn't get it and that they hadn't seen it redubbed in many other contexts) and accused him of comparing them to Nazis. They were demanding he take the video down. I was glad he refused. I believe this politician typically has views that oppose mine, but this kind of politically correct bullying can't be tolerated.
That video is funny, damn it!

I'm not sure how popular they are in Germany. Only a decade or two ago people there would not find them very funny. But as they say: Humor is tragedy plus time

There is one beer I have not had since the late 80's and that is Ruddles bottled ale. My dad would regularly buy bottles of Ruddles and sometimes we would be served the ale in pubs and would would have it with ploughman's lunch.
