It's back to work I go...

I'm now working with a big computer company in Cork, and so far so good. I cut myself shaving this morning, so my ID photo was taken with a big scab in my face just above my lip. Also, couldn't quite work out how the coffee machine in the cafeteria worked: the coffee poured itself into the drain unbeknownst to me because I forgot to put a cup in the right place. And, of course someone came up to me, all smiles, welcoming me to the company. I couldn't remember who he was nor even where I had met him.

A great start! smiley - biggrin

That does sound about typical. When I had my photo for my building badge done, I was looking away from the camera.

Hope the new job goes really well for you! smiley - goodluck

Since an unflattering picture is what one will always get anyway, I just wish that one could choose the kind of unflattering picture, say, from a list:

1) Gassy

2) Stoned

3) Hyperventilating

4) Felon

5) Moron

6) Accident Victim

7) Deer in the Headlights

8) ...

Mine are generally #5 and I would like to try #7 just for the change.

Zarquon's Singing Fish!

New job - new TLAs - comes with the territory. I can remember when I started this current job, the first thing I did was to get someone to write them all down so I had a clue. Has some kind soul done that for you, Woodpigeon?

Any chance they will let you do a new ID photo once your shaving cut is fully healed?

They have a web-page showing all the TLA's - if I can't sleep some day I must take a look at it...

My photo arrived today and the spot is not too bad. The wonders of Photo Shop! smiley - biggrin

I spent a lot of time assembling lists and dictionaries of acronyms at one job. I even assembled them all into one grande volume. Wouldn't you know that they then announced that there were too many, and that they were cutting down the list to a paltry several pages. (Not that anybody stopped using their portions of the tome I created!)

Better to make it a rule that you cannot use an acronym in any document where you have not defined it in the document the first time it is employed. It might cut the usage of TLAs and FLAs in half!

Problem is, management would have to enforce. smiley - erm

Congrats on the job! smiley - ok
