Pens, pens everywhere; but not a drop to write
I'm confused. Everyone has experienced the moment when you answer someone else's phone and offer to take a message only to find the absent person is apparently allergic to biros [or Post-Its, but never both]. So some voice, [I say some voice because the simple act of looking for a pen seems to take a large chunk of brainpower, and mainly the brain bit which allows you to hear and remember complex information like the caller's name] is explaining in great detail the crisis now facing the shuttle launch [a problem the absentee is guaranteed unable to solve]. Sucessfully stalling them with "Uhuh"s and "Right"s and the occasional "I can see that'd be a problem for you [whoever you are, you loon]", a pen mystically appears wedged into a 1000 page document - hope you didn't need that page in a hurry - and then the final insult, it doesn't write. A biro must be able to write miles and miles of script, so the chances of it being out of ink are quite small [unless that's why it became a makeshift bookmark]. But it's not an ink issue, no no. Some how the ball [key partner in the whole ball-point pen composition] is no longer ball shaped but more, cubic. Scratch scratch scratch - nothing. No name, No number, No message, Another shuttle launch delay. Bottom.Conversations
