Halloween, Guy Fawkes Day and Christmas

Surely soon children will become confused about why they celebrate certain things. I imagine talking to my grand-daughter for instance in a few years, I would ask her about Halloween Guy Fawkes and Christmas and her answers will be very odd.

'So, darling why do you think we have Halloween?' "Well granny, it is the night that the Holy Ghost was born and he walked around saying trick or treat and if you didn't give him sweets he would blow your houses up"

'Do you know about Guy Fawkes' "Yes, granny he is the man who invented Fireworks and Catherine Wheels and Rockets so we remember him cos, rockets are important, they go up to heaven and see the holy ghost".

'Now baby, why do we have Christmas' "Well that is when the Holy Ghost dresses up as Santa and gives us loads of presents. Christmas is great cos it is such a long time, just after we go back after the summer holidays right up to the new year when you get drunk granny".

"Halloween is good cos you can take sweets from strangers and you can't all the rest of the year. Fireworks are grand cos people set them off in school and can play with matches even when you are not supposed to. Christmas is the best I get loadsa stuff, I can start saying I want that every time I see something in the shops or on the telly and I usually get it".
