No, I had a rather busy weekend, what with a hockey game, my mother's birthday, and my completion (at last) of Final Fantasy VIII (total game play time: 118 hours). I don't think I was on the web even once the whole time.
Now, I have to go for a bit, 'cause I'm just leaving for work and a co-worker's picking me up (since it's pouring rain outside and he's driving). Mmmm... driving....

Oh, and though saturday was going to be my 'I'm going to finish Final Fantasy VIII today come hell or high water' day, I actually had to spend most of that day telecommuting to make modifications to some older code that was causing troubles. So that really threw a wrench in my plans.

Ah, glad you are still speaking to me
Had a pretty lousy day at work today - (I seem to be having quite a few of these). The boss won't let me have a couple of days off around the weekend, so I sulked all day (umm, grown-up behaviour ) And my mood is not helped by the tonne of college work I didn't do over the weekend. Managed to spent most of yesterday in bed (oops) - so I ought to be doing that now rather than this (oops again ). Oh well, such is life.

Of course I'm still speaking to you (typing?). You're the most fun person to talk to. Sure, you were temporarily possessed by some evil, anti-weevil fever-type affliction, but that's passed now, and you're the same frizzy little penguin as before.
As for bad days at work, I think you could blame the weather for a lot of that. The weather is lousy, everyone's sick, or getting sick, or claiming that they're not sick anymore but are still spreading flu around anyway. It's dark, cold and miserable outside, and it puts some people in a bad mood, and they pass their bad moods on to those who would otherwise have remained unaffected by the weather.
That's my theory, anyway.

Ah, the weather again - and I though us Brits were obsessed. It is still pretty mild and autumnal here. What I hate is when it gets dark so early. The clocks went back a few weeks ago and I haven't quite got used to it getting dark so early in the evenings. Things aren't helped by the fact I spend most of working day in a room with no windows - so daylight is a little scarce. Nasty
Thought I was going to get some dreadful lurgy over the weekend -(felt really rough on Friday) but managed to subdue that - killed it off with the alcohol I think - aided by spending all of Sunday in bed (hee hee). Feel a bit better about that now as I have managed to do an hour or so of study tonight - fending off the guilt for a bit longer . But totally banjaxxed now.

Nick O`Teen Posted Nov 8, 1999
I've done that on several occasions: spend a whole day (usually on the weekend) just sitting in bed, never getting dressed, crawling out occaisionally to eat, etc., watching TV, playing video games.
Course the party's over if I run out of cigareets and have to go out to get more. Doh!

Filthy evil habit ... I quit about 6 months ago after having smoked for 12 years (or so)... HURRAH (now I'm just drinking myself to death )
Mysterious Silence...
Nick O`Teen Posted Nov 8, 1999
How did you quit? Cold turkey? nicotine gum? nicotine patch? chewing toothpicks?
Mysterious Silence...
Frizzychick Posted Nov 8, 1999
The Power of the Mind - I cut down over a period of about 3 years. At the end I was smoking the tiniest hand-rolled fags and only about 2 a day - so the final step to actually stop wasn't that difficult . Yes, and I feel terribly smug about it. Put on about 4 stone in weight though
If you're intrested , the first draft of the Marzipan Gin nonsense article is knocking about somewhere (www.h2g2.com/A203923 - I think)...

Nick O`Teen Posted Nov 9, 1999
Oh, goody. I think I'll go peruse it right now.

Nick O`Teen Posted Nov 9, 1999
It's hilarious! I was laughing out loud through the whole thing. Brilliant stuff. I love the angle of describing the drink as revolting. Oh, man, that's funny. You did a real good job of incorporating all the nonsense we've brought up all this time. You certainly went beyond the call, what with the background and 'revolting cocktails' list.
Under the list of affects from drinking at the bottom, you should change 'sugar rush' to 'Diabetes'. Well, I thought that would be funny.
So when can I link to it? Huh? Huh? When? Can I link to it now or should I wait 'til you're finished? Are you finished?
Oh, geez, I'm gonna go read it again.

Nick O`Teen Posted Nov 9, 1999
It just keeps gettin' funnier.
Of particular note (stuff I really laughed at):
- The presence of the word 'perhaps' in "Perhaps the worst Juniper Harvest..."
- 'gin elders'
- 'Everybody noticed the difference' (stating precisely what one would have expected)
- 'sickly almond flavoured gin-like beverage' (heh heh, 'gin-like' )
- 'pastry-based costumes' (you remembered that one )
- 'history of fatalities'
- 'revolting cocktails'
- 'Inability to move head' (reference to your hangover forum?)
The article implies that the drink has virtually no redeeming features whatsoever, unless perhaps you are Dutch. Very funny angle. I'm very impressed.
Where did you get those wonderful pictures?
Mysterious Silence...
Nick O`Teen Posted Nov 9, 1999
Oh ya. Do you plan on incorporating weevils and/or angle iron into the article? Not that you have to. I'm just wondering.
Mysterious Silence...
Frizzychick Posted Nov 9, 1999
Oh thank you - my adoring audience .
I can't believe I forgot the angle-iron -duh! I shall have to put it in somewhere...
God, you've cheered me up... total ego boost
Which is good really cos I have had another of the most evil days at work - well actually only half a day as I was sent home at lunchtime for being just too miserable for words. I got summoned into the bosses office, and asked if anything was wrong - needless to say, this is the perfect cue for breaking down into floods of tears, so broke down etc. etc. Total loony-tunes at the mo - must be the weather My boss was totally lovely and said I should perhaps just go home for the afternoon. (I think I was bringing everyone else down).
So I have spent the afternoon sorting out my finances - god I'm lucky I haven't launched myself out of the nearest window or something. Perhaps I should have just curled up on the sofa with a good book and the cat .
But enough of my whinging, how's tricks?

I'm sorry that you had such a nasty day at work today. I dast not ask what sort of tasks were beset you to put you in so foul a mood. I am shipping you a Japanese Purring Weevil to try and set your mind at ease.
I woke up late today and, although I'm supposed to be at work at 8:00am, I didn't make it in until almost 10:30. Flu and colds are rampant about the office, and the weather is constant rain and wind, all day long. Never saw a single ray of sunshine yesterday, and probably won't see one today.
My code modifications are complete and now I have to throw the thing at the QA department so they can test it. Hopefully, I'll be able to find something to do before I go mad from not having anything to do.

Frizzychick Posted Nov 9, 1999
And I look forward to the Japanese Purring weevil - a 'weevil day' to make up for an evil day?
