Oh oh...a bit of trouble here!!!

I was told this morning that my Dad was in hospital. Seems he has some sort of infection that caused a real heavy spike in his temperature. He is going to be scanned today to see if they can find the location of the problem.
This has been going on for a while,so I am not really surprised..but the fact he's been hospitalized is of some concern, of course.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers...and send me some too.

Some Unwelcome News...

I just got off the telephone with my Dad this morning,trying to touch base after a period of no contact..wanted to explain among other things that I was not having any luck with my pursuit of a better disability setup for myself. ( I also had to let him know that I would be late with rent for my little room 
.Seems he had a bit of bad news to tell..he recently has been having chest pain and his heart is suspect. He is currently awaiting a set-up for an angiogram. I am of course concerned,mainly because he only recently had open heart bypass op a few short years ago..
I would appreciate you folk sending out some helpful vibes to my family at this time if you could remember to do so..I know that we all have things that are important to take care of at present,so just a little in the way of prayer or good thought would be really nice..

An odd conversation

As I arrived at the library this morning I was an observer to a very disturbing interchange between a pair of young Mexican-Americans and an African-American woman. I did not witness the first few minutes of the heated discussion,but essentially the women accused the young men of harassment,and was angrily saying that she wished the young men would "go back to their own country"---she used language that was profane and in my opinion,racist....It is perhaps not known to many,but there has been a decay in relations between latinos and blacks for sometime,and this was an ugly,brutish display of stupidity on both sides ( the boys seemed to like being buried in racist invective)...We Americans still have a long way to go in learning respect for one another. A very sad thing to see in 2006.

Summer's on the way....really.

As the majority of us suffer from days and nights that are just too cold for normal human beings to bear,I just want to remind everybody that the days are indeed getting longer,which means we are heading towards an inescapable crash course with the Spring and Summer seasons 
...where hopefully we all get much needed rain,and we all experience a badly needed warming trend....I know that Los Angeles weather seems quite balmy in comparison with Europe's icy climate
but I, along with tens of thousands of my fellow Angelenos will be quite grateful for the change. It has been too long since I have enjoyed the pleasures of drinking a pint of 
and watching the fiery sunsets that are the trademark of the So Cal coast,chatting in good company. It has been too long since I have gone on an all night movie crawl,carefree and mindless of the temperature. Too long since I've seen groups of winsome women in summer dress...I look at the brightened evening sky with anticipation...I hope that summer is as good for you as it will be for me. Cheers
