GOSPORT- A town on the south coast of Hampshire UK.
From the stony beach at Stokes Bay, there is a great view to the Isle of Wight,
with some wonderful sunsets over the West of The Solent, ok sometimes.
There are parks of many different types. Woodland Walks, Grasslands Walks and
from next year a walk along the side of Portsmouth Harbour with views to Portsmouth,
Portsdown Hill and the Forts in The Solent and the Isle of Wight.
There are a number of museums and other attractions, many with an historical seagoing
theme, though also other interests such as the 17C Village where you can have a chat
with the inhabitants.

I've heard that the inhabitants of that 17C village enjoy the regular visit of thespians- But, the outside world doesn't get too involved with the plays as the village doesn't actually have a pub. Bit stange that- Don't you think?- I thought that the whole 17C thing was tankards, busty-barmaids and other skullduggary. You're thoughts are anticipated.

Gosport. What a wonderful place this village/town is to live. Perhaps the best thing anyone can say is that it's not Fareham. (A place so vile that Dante rejected it as the last level of Hell because it gave him nightmares!) Yes, there are museums (Of sorts) but they range from the "Blink and you'll miss it" submarine museum to the small two room model aircraft museum within a large, otherwise empty, hulking fort. So, unless you're a fan of masochistic museum expeditions or you're a school kid pretending you're tough, "hanging with your posse", you'll want to get out of town as often as possible. This is where your problems really start. You see Gosport is not only on the coast, it's on a promontory opposite Portsmouth. This means that unless you like waiting for a freezing cold ferry to take you to a grubby city, you have to use a road. And there are only two. And one of those goes to Fareham!

I do believe that my name is now immortalised on a brick buried into concrete on the sea front as part of this millenium wall project going on in Gosport. What a great way to remembered (lol). Is there anybody else out there that has the honour?
