Can I pass that on in 'real life'? As real as the Beeb ever gets anyway. smiley - winkeye

I talk to Anna a lot at work still, in fact I seem to chat to her more than I do Abi, who is on the same floor as me!

I can imagine getting a word in with Abi *would* be a lot more difficult. smiley - winkeye

Sure, please let Anna know I was poking around her old h2 Personal Space. smiley - smiley

Hello Jimi, and Whoami too, and Mina smiley - hugsmiley - hugsmiley - hug

Well now, what have I been doing?

In September I started a graduate conversion course in psychology so that I could go on to do an MSc probably in Occupational Psychology (to make people happy at work) or if I get distracted with something else, possibly Behavioural Science to do with Human Interaction with Computers, I might do that.

I absolutely *love, love, love* my course. So far my favourite subject has been Neuroscience. Now, I've always considered myself a bit of a middle of the road sort of person intellectually, and for this reason I feel as if I can show off a little... Wonder of wonders, I seem to be doing rather well. I got a first in my last piece of coursework, and not just an 'only just' either. I got 78% smiley - blush Must have helped reading all those entries on Microbes and Quarks and, well, Pennsylvania smiley - winkeye

Also, odd things keep on happening to me. For example, over Christmas and New Year:

1) I went to Milan for the day. I am so chic.

2) A random man knocked on my door, with chest pains, asking for a glass of water. I was torn between two thoughts: 'I've got to stop him dying on my doorstep' and 'I hope this isn't just a ruse and he's going to stab me in a minute'. I had to organise the ambulance, reassure him that I could do CPR, get the neighbours round, get him some water, wake up Dom and explain that there was a man in our hall who wasn't very well and there was an ambulance in our driveway and Oo look, another one's arrived (with more equipment).

Anyway, the bonuses were 1) I got to sit in the front seat of the rapid response paramedic car *and turn on the blue lights* (Dominic wouldn't do it) while John, the ambulanceman, did his paperwork (random man, Hassan, had been transferred to the other ambulance by then) and 2) in gratitude, we can have washing machine repairs for life (Hassan is a washing machine repair man).

Dominic is thriving. He is learning to use a potty, is singing all the time, and is a lovely joy.

So. What have you two been up to? How are the little Xs?

Heaps of love,

Anna xxx

Hi Anna!

I'm getting stuck into some proper A-level work so I've temporarily resigned from Subbing and Scouting. I've an interview at UCL on Monday, 16th February, which I hope will have a more positive result than my Oxford application, which was turned down. English is just a little competitive and so it wasn't entirely a surprise - it's been a bad year for everyone at my school in English - only 1 Oxbridge applicant got in, from 10 overall.

I've basically put most aspects of my life on hold for the examination season, but am still organising and attending the Oxford Spring minimeet.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your studies and that you've free washing machine repairs for life! smiley - winkeye I hope you stay well. Life is clearly good for you since you've not spent much time here on h2g2 since you 'left'. Do pop in and keep us up-to-date - we miss you when you're not around!

Dear Whoami,

I'm sorry that your application to Oxford was turned down. What on earth were they thinking? Fer goodness' sake. smiley - shrug

Good luck in the exams though - I'm certain that you'll do brilliantly smiley - ok I've got some in May, but they'll be a few practicals and an essay to hand in before then, so I'll worry about it in a bit.

It's nice to visit h2g2 once in a while - but I've always been a lurker at heart, being a quiet sort and all. I do nose about to see what's been happening. So I'm keeping an eye smiley - winkeye

Love Anna xx

"He is learning to use a potty, is singing all the time..."

My youngest always sings on the potty! smiley - smiley She's a little nutter though - and getting ready to start kindergarten in the fall! smiley - wah

My eldest is growing into quite a beauty, and she's playing sports (basketball at the moment) and doing well in her studies - quite a triple-threat. I've begun practicing chasing boys away by running after birds and squirrels in my yard. smiley - winkeye

No exciting trips in my life - though I'll be taking a week in Rhode Island in the summer for my 10th wedding anniversary (second honeymoon). smiley - loveblush

Nice to hear from you and that the schooling is going so well. After working with us it should be a surprise that you're interested in a mental health field after all...

smiley - hug

Take care and be good!
- X
