h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Good to see you're up with your writing! I guess we need to do around 1,700 words a day to make it.

But oh my, this time it's hard. I've had this plot bunny for ages, but I haven't written anything in over a year.

Maybe I need to write some fanfic or something to get me in the mood.


Mine's about a teenage girl...

My action/adventure/urban fantasy is becoming a romance novel! My lovable rogue main character is turning into a sap! And I have 600 words yet to do today! Aaaarrrggh!

I suppose the madness is part of why we do it?

I re-read part of my last effort (from 2003) last month, to get in the mood. And nearly barfed all over it!

But with a bit of work it could be a... Mills&Boon!

I like the idea of urban/fantasy with romance though.

The main character is now playing a bit more but is being too damn soft and not selfish enough.

My urban fantasy plot ideas have little room for romance! It's all about the quest, Harley can get laid when the quest is over!

so be firm and whip 'em into shape!

Are your characters and plot playing ball?

I'm planning on being very nasty to Harley in order to make them act like they're all supposed to.

but since the main two are teenagers I expect sulks from them

Thinking I have 54000 words yet to go is a bit daunting...I better get off hootoo and make a dent in my daily word count...maybe later!

I write while I'm watching TV - which will stop very soon because my notebook is in its death throes.

I remember how proud I was when I won - and I was sorely disappointed that I didn't get time this year - but once I'd missed 5 days writing I had no hope.

So, you're up for next year then?

Haha, maybe for next year. I'll be in my first year at university from next september (hopefully) so it depends how tough I find it.

I looked at my stats and found I had missed 13 days of writing over the month but I did 12,000 last weekend and 7,700 friday night!

so nice to have the time!

*remembers A-levels and all that jazz*
