Ah.... Thank goodness for the list... I recognise the Thunderbirds. It used to be my brothers favourite show when he was little.

Joe 90 was interesting insofar as it had some real life actors in it for some of the shots. The things with hands were generally live film rather than banana fingered puppets.
Also one of the adult puppets was made to look like the man who did his voice - who was a famous comedy performer, Stanley Unwin. He was known for talking a form of gibberish and was called Professor Stanley Unwin for his stage show, where he would speak to the audience as a clever man who baffled them with complicated words.
For instance in his language you wouldn't fall on the floor you would "Follollop to the groundimost." It was weird that people did understand most of what he was going on about, which made it even funnier.

You mean Joe 90 had totally real people in it rather than just the hands that Stingray and Thunderbirds had??
Four Eyes!!
Vestboy Posted Jun 4, 2008
I think there was more use of real people in Joe 90 - but of course I am relying on long term memory here!

NPY Posted Jun 4, 2008
Funny that no one ever questioned the way Thunderbirds had real hands operating the stuff.

Thanks for the link Websailor I couldn't make out what he was saying... but it might of helped if I could have turned the volume up.
I don't really have any memory of watching the Thunderbirds, although I know did watch it when I was little.

you probably wouldn't have understood him anyway. It took practice to make sense of what he was saying, but once you did he was very funny.

I do hate it when you come across a really quiet video on youtube. Kinda spoils it.

Yes, or one with abnormally large subtitles in another language... It's rather distracting.

I think that there was something going on in the other room that I didn't want to interrupt. Probably my Mum on the phone.
Four Eyes!!
NPY Posted Jun 10, 2008
Why do people insist on shouting into a phone? My mum does it all the time. If you're on the receiving end you're half deafened and if you're nearby you have to turn the tv up louder.

Vestboy Posted Jun 10, 2008
I think the older generation think they have to shout as you are a long way away and won't hear otherwise. I have to say phoning someone while having a TV or music on loud in the background is also annoying for the person on the other end of the phone. This, of course, can be useful if you wanted to annoy them

Well there's older and older. Doubt there are many paople in the western world now who are unfamiliar with a telephone.
Do hate it when you can hear music/tv/chat going on round the person you're talking to. Especially if it was them who made the call.
