Clever idea. Though hopefully they'll invent anti-beaming sheilds at the same time. Or we'll have evolved to be much more civilised.

Arisztid Lugosi Posted May 29, 2008
I was totally thinking anti-beaming technology... But I really like the idea of evolving to be more civilized much better!

Arisztid Lugosi Posted May 31, 2008
You make an excellent point! I forgot we weren't going to have any crime in our paradise... I can't believe I forgot... but it's so common now I suppose its just a part of life I take for granted.

So you'd eradicate free will and turn mankind into a slave race? Vote for Bush, did you? Or else would you just scrap laws? After all if there're no laws people cannot break them.

Arisztid Lugosi Posted Jun 1, 2008
Exactly X. Free will is a must, its just that, as a society, we eventually evolve past our more negative qualities...
Paradise
NPY Posted Jun 1, 2008
Yeah. Without free will we become like the Borg or Weyoun, only doing what we;'ve been told/programmed to do. no fun.
But we're gonna be naturally well mannered and well behaved and healthy.

So that means there'll be no needfor police...I'll never have to pay for anything ever again! BWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

NPY Posted Jun 1, 2008
Well that's a given. No money. We'll "work" for the pleasure of it and the satisfaction, and we'll gain by trade. Like if I do your garden, you paint my house.

I don't think y'all are quite comprehending my point, in a society like that I would be like unto the one eyed man in the land of the blind.
Also have you ever seen the film Serenity?
Paradise
Arisztid Lugosi Posted Jun 2, 2008
Well the idea is that you would have evolved along with the rest of us so any criminal intentions that you have would no longer exist... although in Star Trek they do still have security teams and things so I suppose the majority of people evolve but some don't and the security is for them. I don't think we're saying we suddenly evolve to become blind to all bad things, just that we would choose not to do them.
No, I haven't seen that film... What's it abotu?

It's the film of the TV series Firefly and it answers many, although not all of the questions raised in the few episodes they made before it was canceled.
I shan't do into too much detail as it's a good film and if you like sci-fi and westerns you should see Firefly and then Serenity. In it they visit a planet, called Miranda, which has no war or crime or conflict of any sort.

Humanity has embraced a "utopian" society, but they're just one part of the Federation, and there's all those other species that aren't part of the Federation anyway. Then there's also all those mentally unbalanced individuals and whatnot, so you need the security teams for them.

Oh my, well curing all mental and physical disease goes without saying.
At the moment I have a terrible cold. I wish that if we can't cure it I could at least take the day off tomorrow but I can't

ah, you're one of these people who like to go spreading your diseases around, are you?
I hope you realise you could kill someone by doing that

I'm actually home from work today. There are only two of us that work there and the other woman was going to be away. I'm not sure how she worked it out but she's working today. Otherwise I would never have dreamed of going in sick.

NPY Posted Jun 8, 2008
Though would your bosses *really* let you away qwith phoning in sick coz you've a slightly runny nose? I can see if you're a nurse or work in a nursing home or something they might prefer it coz you're working with the frail, but if you work in an office or something dunno if they'd let you.

Arisztid Lugosi Posted Jun 8, 2008
No, they wouldn't. For some reason you have to be practically dying before they let you off. I worked with the elderly last summer and I had to go even when I had a cold, I asked them because I was sure you weren't supposed to go near the sick if you were elderly but they said I should come in. I was quite surprised.
