Looking through the Transgressions for lifetime bans, there is a recognisable pattern.

Just prior to a lifetime ban, the offending researcher is banned for a week.

Not meaning to jump in here, but for those of you posting for a suspended researcher, you should be aware that doing so can actually get you suspended too.
Yes, he can still read here, but any messages from him really have to wait until he's able to post them himself. Otherwise, by asking you to post for him, he's getting around his suspension, and that could lead him to a permanent ban smiley - erm

Sorry to have interrupted, but I'd hate to see anyone else get themselves into trouble smiley - sadface

I am not acting as his mouthpiece; he merely said "if you are on hootoo could you explain that i am not actually banned 'cos i can see that people are wondering what is happening."

Which i think is fair enough. I can't see how that could justify me getting banned? But if there has been a precedent in the past where it's happened, OK.

I would imagine it's down to "reported speech" rather than "direct speech"; if i copied & pasted his MSN convo on here, via me, certainly that would be seen as "aiding & abetting" a restricted hooter to make postings; but i don't think reporting a simple message in my own words should get me suspended surely?

But thanks for pointing that out; i certainly have no wish to be in trouble with anyone!

Terri, I wasn't trying to be mean, honestly smiley - sadface I just know that it's not allowed. House Rules even say :

"Please don't post for suspended Researchers. Anyone who posts communications from Researchers whose accounts have been suspended may also have their own account suspended."

I'd know about this... remember Symphony?

Sorry to have butted in, and I apologise if I've offended anyone. I'll leave you in peace.

Happy Holidays to you all smiley - holly

The H2G2 Editors

Hello all,

Admin's right - I think it's fair to report why a friend's said he won't be around for a while, but any recurrent reporting of opinions could be seen as a breach of the House Rules - for that info in full, please consult <./>/HouseRules</.>.

Thanks,

The Editors

It seems bizarre that after the eds said that, the posts remained, yet today i am told it's been modded?

Ah well.
