I actually *am* tempted to buy more, but I had another $1,400 dollars of dental bills to pay last month. My discretionary income has shriveled away. It's frustrating.

Just got an ad from 'Best Buy' A US big box appliance store for a stainless steel electric range. They just delivered one here last Saturday. Do they think I buy a lot of these, like bathroom tissue and beer ?

“Do they think I buy a lot of these, like bathroom tissue and beer ?”
I can sort of imagine that – “oh dear, I’ve cooked every day this week and run out of electric range – I’ll have to buy another one!”
I commented elsewhere yesterday about stock photos of disabled people, as I saw a photo of a pretty person sitting in a massive old fashioned wheelchair, and just got the feeling that they weren't really a wheelchair user... Today the advert is for a Stock Photo company

That is hilarious! Thanks BG
Aargh - a wheelchair stock photo of a man in a flimsy transit wheelchair on a football pitch - another one that makes me suspicious! He certainly didn't push himself there in the wheelchair...

Obviously, a picture of the New York Stock Exchange would have stock photos.

AARP life insurance.
AARP is the American Association of Retired People. Being retired, they have time on their hands, so they sit up nights thinking of ways to remind the rest of us oldsters how vulnerable we are to all kinds of bad stuff. Like death, hence the life insurance angle. Or legislation that might be harmful to the older demographic.
Yep, a real barrel of chuckles, these people. As if the mere mention of AARP wasn't enough to remind the recipients that they aren't spring chickens any more.....

They keep reminding me that you don't actually have to be retired to join. They will happily take your money if you are still working, as long as you are old enough.
If you look they are also a major political lobbying group, just like the Unions.

Many people are surprised when they receive a membership request just before their 55th birthday. AARP knows everyone's age.

Having just bought a new laptop, I am getting more generic ads until I collect a few cookies.
So I've got the Zendesk one and now they're trying to convince me I want to watch NBA and NFL games live. Considering they'd be broadcast in the middle of the night CET and I haven't the faintest idea of the rules of American Football, that is probably one I shall be giving a miss.
Basketball is like netball but with a board behind the goal so you can't miss - right?

The only times I go to basketball games are when I"m there to sing the National Anthem before the game starts. I'll be doing that for the Celtics on December 6.
How many ways can doing this be annoying?
1. There's a deadly street to cross to get to the arena where the game will be played.
2. I had to pay $30.00 for a ticket that should have been free, given that I will be part of the entertainment.
3. My seat will be way up in the back, where the players will look about as big as ants.
4. Advertisers will have distracting banners and electronic ads on screens all around the perimeter of the arena.
5. I'll be five or six flights of stairs above the ground floor, not counting the number of flights I'll have to climb with my chorus to get where they need me to be.
6. Like TC, I don't understand the rules of the game, nor can I fathom why tens of thousands of spectators will brave the cold and dark to sit in a crowded arena for hours. It's not for the food. trust me, it's not.

My son lived until this summer within a stone's throw of the Levi Stadium. You could hear the crowds from their balcony. When we were visiting them, we were happily splashing in their pool when there was a fly past - 6 planes, coloured smoke, the lot! - and then a cannon or something went off to start a game.
Heck - it's only a game!!!
My son says that an American Football match is usually about 2 minutes of action followed by 20 minutes of nothing. There must be something in it though.
Basketball is slightly more energetic, and it's easier to follow.

Leaf Filter Gutter Guards
This might actually come in handy. There are bog oak trees everywhere in my area. This of year, the leaves fall all over my yard.. They would fall in my gutters if I had any. Instead, the roof extends six inches past the walls, so rain drips down without anything to stop it.
