gospel of John

There are at least seven signs in this gospel. You failed to include the Walking On The Water. In every other gospel - except Luke - this follows the Feeding Of The Five Thousand. There is also the story of the miraculous Catch Of Fish in chapter 21. Since that chapter is often considered to be an epilogue, the number of 'signs' is usually reckoned as seven.

Yes, there is also the walking on the water, but I'm not sure whether this fits the pattern of the other six signs in the way that scholars have identifed. The other six signs can be clearly related to a saying and/or a discourse which John uses, together with the sign itself, to try and bring out the true meaning of Jesus' actions. However, I may well be wrong - it's a long time since I studied theology properly.
